Top speed limited???

Is there a limiter on the top spedd of the 2.4 SS?? The reason i am asking is because this morning i was "racing" with a lancer evo, at least i think it was an evo it was dark out and it was kickin my a$$ he was just playin with me and i knew i didn't have a chance but when i hit 115 that was as fast as i could go and i sustained that speed for at least a mile or so.

Thanks for any info anyone can provide.

yes we have a limiter...but its higher then 115mph.

I have been up to almost 125mph but had to back off because room was fast becoming a premium. Out tires are H rated to 130mph...probably where the limiter is.

Of course my limiter is gone but I don't feel like going to jail

Yeah i think the 2.4's have a limiter around 125-135. Even the 2.0 SS has a limiter of 158.

I have been to 120 in 4th gear but when I shifted into 5th it pretty much just sat there, it was very annoying but I think it just needs more power to push it further. And if we do have a limiter and if thats what is stopping me from going faster than 120 then how the hell do you take it off?

and you have an SS/SC? Dude, in 5th mine winds out...ive had mine to 143, 145, and 147. The car is more governored by the drag...thats why the diff. speeds. All these were done on open mining roads when there is no one around. And IMO, holding it to the floor in 5th doesnt do anything...bout half pedal or less is sufficient.

Why would you take the governer off? Its there to protect you and others, just leave it on.

How does it protect you and others? If you have a space to let'er buck, such as a closed road or a airstrip, why wouldn't you want to see how fast you can go? I'm pretty sure more people die at 30 mph in the city than they do at 158 mph on an empty road.

Avro has a tuned ECM from Wester's Garage, I'm guessing that removing the limiter was one of the features of the tune.

if there's a governor on your car, it's based on the speed that your tires can handle... going faster than you're supposed to will almost guarantee a blowout... and believe me, you don't want your tire blowing out anywhere above 100

i agree as long as the tires are rated accordingly
