on stagest? I'm not sure i understand this part of your question...

Throttle response is normally cleaned up best by tuning your MAF and removing delays. The fact the throttle body is electric makes no difference until you increase the diameter via porting or ss/sc throtttle body swap. Tune-wise, the volume of air a TB can suck in is given a value, that value naturally increases with a larger TB. This number tells the ECU how much to open it for a predictable amount of air.

I guess the short answer to your question is: "Your friend is talking out of his ass".

Let me clear the air.

The volume of air a throttle body has the potential of letting through can be increased by porting the cylinder inside of the tb. But do not forget that the intake manifold is the biggest factor in injestion efficiency. You could have a tb as large as an ls1 on ur stock intake manifold and it wouldnt make a difference. Unless of course you were blown or had a more efficient intake manifold.

As far as tuning the tb as ur friend says, they might be talking about the delay response of tb action in relation to you actually pushing the accelerator pedal down. I know some vehicles have it, and im not positive that the cobalt does or does not but i dont see why it wouldnt. Ill ask a few of the other techs in my shop and see what they say and then get back to you on this.

If you were to cut throttle response time, you would definately need a good tuning program. But it is all pointless even for a lightly modified engine.

PE delay? Whats that? I don't got no PE delay...

(Removing the PE delay is one of the first things that people do while tuning and Ecotec normally)

lucky... i wish i didnt have PE delay. theres a good little pause when i slam it.

im waiting to do the cams and tune at the same time. ither way. i could have sworn there was no way to get rid of all the PE delay just becuase of the simple fact that we use an electronic TB.
