So financial stupidity and high likelihood of engine-bay fireworks aside...

Props on actually following through.

NOT a lot of people have put 8 grand into their car. maybe what, 10 on this site, if that. im not ragging on cobalts or anything so dont make this about my car. and first off i never compared it to a ss/sc. i said ss/tc. sell the car for what? 7k, then use the 8k (so 15k total) to pay 15 cash on a used ss/tc and get a tune. call it a day and it will be way better all around than a harroped 2.4. because this kids car needs a big brake kit, not slotted rotors to brake like a ss/tc, and sway bars, mounts, and coilovers to handle like a ss/tc. btw, ive only got about 1600 in my subaru. i shopped around and waited for good deals to pop up.

it also doesnt make sense to make a 2.4 in 2008 with a difference ECU/throttlebody/intake manifold/downpipe then cancel the whole car half way into production when the 2007 2.4 was perfectly fine

nothing that GM does or had done makes much sense to me anyways, i hope that was a good enough example

you seriously think not alot of ss/scs have put 8k into their cars.. look at anyone of the tvs ss/scs i can guarantee there are more then 8 people on the site that have put 8k into their car

and glen all those changes were things to be used cross platform on the LE5 and LAP.. so no thats not strange

first off, not many ppl have a tvs, but ill do the 8k build with the tvs included, so for ppl w/out the tvs just subtract the cost of the tvs. so yeah, a tvs on the group buy was what? 1800 shipped or something, i faintly remember 1650 as well. Ill do that math just for you to make it simple.
tvs (1850), intake (250), header w/ downpipe (600), catback exhaust (700), injectors w/ harness (250), tune (300), coilovers (1200), sway bars (400), rims and tires just because (1200), aftermarket headlights (250), shorth throw shifter (150), motor mounts (250).
so all in all the grand total is $7400 for someone w/ a tvs and $5550 for ppl w/out a tvs and those prices are all on the higher side and if you buy new, if you looked for used deals you could easily cut $1500 off the total. now i dont know about you, but i dont know of anyone (theres got to be a few though) on this site that has all of those things. some people have a tvs, some have rims and tires w/ a few bolt ons, some have suspension etc. But i promise you for every 1 cobalt that has 8 grand into it on here, there are at least 999 on here that dont. so if you think 1 out of 1000 is a lot, then yeah, theres a lot of people on here that have 8k into their balts. Just fyi, look at most ss/tc's. they have what, 2k to be fully bolted and make wayyyyyyyy better numbers and would perform wayyyyyy better around a track.

i could of went hahn that is proven to work on 2.4 autos but i want the American Supercharger thing going on and i just happen to see the TVS. Of course a car that isn't build or made to handle this from the factory can't be too great but then again this is prob the fastest and most dough spent on a car, this is my 3rd. 03 cavi to a 98 mali 08 balt funny how it works i just wanna be able to beat my buddy's 08 gti 2.0 ARP stage 2 with dsg lol

also im aiming to win car of the month for May!

you can see my car not being worked on lol check it

Maybe but putting thousands into a SS will get you alot further then thousands in a 2.4...and then if you want to talk sti's then **** the cobalt, thousands in a subie puts SS's in the dust....

nawwww, fwd is the way to go. i got flamed a while back for jumping on the awd bandwagon bc apparently fwd is better for racing on the streets yo! on a serious note, glad to see you have some common sense.

yeah, and youre one of the few. how many other cobalts have done what you have? and like the quote above me stated. that money is much better spent elsewhere on a better platform; not ragging on you. i def give you props for what youre doing and to each their own bc everyone has and is entitled to their own opinion. aka if speed is your only worry then just get a eg hatch and k20 swap with boost, there 10k at most and youve got something thatll run 10's

heres a challenge for you elecblue06. if you think im wrong in saying that only 1 out of every 1000 cobalts have 8k into their car in modifications, not repairs bc their car broke, and not install bc they are incompetant, but 8k in mods, then go find me 54 cobalts with their listed mods and prices they paid for each that totals 8k or more. I say 54 bc as i just looked EcoTecDriver is member number 53xxx so theres at least 54xxx members by now. so go start a list or thread and prove me wrong. please.

Nope, that's all AFTER the purchase and payoff of the car. And those are simply mods ON the car, not what i've sold over the years.

rest, it's never been a power thing with me. I've just wanted to have an all around car to enjoy. The ss/sc caught my eye in 06 before I deployed, and I got one two weeks after getting back from the deployment. She wasn't meant to get heavily modded, but little things become big things, and I knew I was all in once I got my tvs. Had I not trusted my car to an ******* while I was gone, I could have saved about 8 grand. You live and learn though. And I like to have a car that looks and rides good, the same reason why I won't buy a honda hatch.

Will, we picked totally different directions to go in, but the result is still the same. Someone has to do it right? Everyone has a reason for why they buy what they buy. The car grew on both of us; Will and I. We know our cars are pretty nice, and won't let anyone try to convince us different.
