Some of you don't realize that things are a lot easier for most of you now. All of the things that needed to be figured out a couple years ago are no longer secrets that needed to be unearthed. Products were made, some good, most not, and we ended up spending money twice to get a proper quality product.

Will has a solid suspension setup for his car that's pretty much one of a kind. And as for me..., you'll find out in the coming months what I've got in store.

I see that reading is hard for you. I made 320 with a non- agressive tune and one halfway busted cylinder. That was when I was doing header testing and just making sure there was no kr present before going to the dyno. there was a lot more power on the table, but for what I was doing, a *****-out tune wasn't necessary. If you want to get technical with something you don't know **** about, I only put 3k into the motor the first time. 2k of that was for the tvs. Pistons and nb shafts..., you do the math.

I hope you did research about this project and the limitations of the motor. I guess you know already that the displacement is more, but your sleeves aren't going to be as strong. And what do you know about your transmission? We'll see how your motor enjoys the shock from the tvs..., the main reason why people stay with turbos or blowers with small amounts of boost.

In any case, enjoy.

yeah, and youre one of the few. how many other cobalts have done what you have? and like the quote above me stated. that money is much better spent elsewhere on a better platform; not ragging on you. i def give you props for what youre doing and to each their own bc everyone has and is entitled to their own opinion. aka if speed is your only worry then just get a eg hatch and k20 swap with boost, there 10k at most and youve got something thatll run 10's

heres a challenge for you elecblue06. if you think im wrong in saying that only 1 out of every 1000 cobalts have 8k into their car in modifications, not repairs bc their car broke, and not install bc they are incompetant, but 8k in mods, then go find me 54 cobalts with their listed mods and prices they paid for each that totals 8k or more. I say 54 bc as i just looked EcoTecDriver is member number 53xxx so theres at least 54xxx members by now. so go start a list or thread and prove me wrong. please.
you're failing to realize how easy it is to rack up that amount of money.. just about anyone with a tvs or turbo swap has probably spent 8k or at least close on their car.. hell even the 2.2s are close to that when getting the m62 stuff for around 2k if thats not all thats done to the car..

hell i've spent 5-6k on my car and i've gotten everything for bitchen deals.. i dont think there is 1 thing on my car i've paid full price for lol ( once i put my valve springs in that will change but still)

Your missing the point.... this started by the OP saying his car is cheaper and better then a new SS/TC.....But in reality its not and its just a waste money....Then the next point is, if you invest your money in a better platform you will yield better results....so stop modding these rental cars you *******'s JK waste your money that you will never see again....

oh i believe you. i followed a lot of your stuff when i had my ss/sc. i know you have a 1 off setup. theres a fine line with being/having a 1 off car and the happieness it brings you, and the finicial stupidity and losses you will incur by dumping 19k (not including the price of the car) into a car that could maybe get 15k for. im saying do what makes you happy, but throwing money away is silly. i dont think youve personally crossed the line(yet)bc youre happy doing what you do, but im jsut trying to make a point.

I gotcha now.

And the thing is, i don't plan on ever selling the car. Since it's paid off, i have no financial burdens from it, and i didn't put on a single mod until it was.

I'll keep it for the forseeable future because it was the first car i bought and paid for myself, and I see to many older guys that regret selling cars from their youth.

Reston, there is a word for Will and I, and many others.

Enthusiast.

While we have "dumped" many thousands into our cars, it doesn't bother us. Look at Performance Auto and Sound Magazine; how much money do those guys dump into their cars? yes, they are better cars than ours are, but the amount they've spent on theirs is exponentially higher than the both of us combined. Maybe Will doesn't plan on selling his car anytime soon..., I know I don't. Even if I do get another car, the balt will remain my toy. And if I can figure out a way to convert it to rwd in the future using a solstice or sky that was wrecked but the frame is still good, then I'll take a crack at that.

It's just what we do.

No money you never see again is a waste, dont sugar coat it lol

thou i do agree about Enthusiast being the currency here, but not on an automatic fwd eco box, when there are so many better platforms to build on for the same cash...that said im not saying dont mod....im saying mod wisely.

example 10k invested in a 71 vette>20k invested in a 07 cobalt

this is exactly what im saying. theres being an enthusiast and just being dumb with your money. my point deathscythe is that if you spend lets say 60k im mods on your ss/sc, then id have to called you retarded. theres being an enthusiast and being retarded. a cobalt is no vette, it isnt timeless. its the new civic, hs kids are picking up ss/sc's for real cheap. im not saying yours wont be cool, but do YOU give any civics from 2003 props for having 60k into them? nopeits retarded. it may look cool and perform well, but its still a civic.

No but 8K into a car to do what costs the right car 2500 and then to claim it's worth as much as the better model is def a "waste" lol. If he really just loves it then so be it. He's trying to make his base better then other cars and then have you accept that reality as well. Im not buying it lol.
