Typhoon Install?

Getting ready to install the K&N Typhoon sri on my 06 SS/NA and need to ask if I should take out the small black plastic inlet duct/resonator assembly that connects to the bottom of the factory airbox, it is separate from the airbox but connects to it by a plastic tube and sits behind the right tire splash shield. It doesn't mention this in the Typhoon instructions.

You don't have to, but I removed every part of the factory intake. I wont hurt anything staying there but it definitely wont help staying. If you remove it you will understand why I say that.

I really wish mine was out but I didn't really think about it until after I put the Typhoon on it. So, alas, it staying in there until I grow out of my laziness.

I wasn't sure if it effected the amount of air going to the area of the K&N filter? Since it is called a Fresh air duct/resonator.Thought maybe it brought in more of a flow of air to the area, if I removed it there would just be a hole in the metal under the Filter. I think I will just take it out.

I took mine out afterward because I dropped a coin in it by accident and I wasn't sure what it was or where it went, hahahaha. It was somewhat of a bitch to get out though.
