Upcoming 2.4 SC build - Build questions
Ok so we are going to see before the end of summer what an 08 2.4 can handle.
The car:
2008 Cobalt Sport 2.4 LE5 Auto coupe (51,xxx miles)
Heres the plan
Supercharged setup:
ported m62
ls4 throttle body
intake (working on those details...)
80lb injectors
2.6 pulley
zzp shorty header
zzp 3 inch reduced to 2.5 catted downpipe
slp loudmouth catback
dual pass
option b
Now one of my questions is on the injectors. Can I run the ev6 80lb injectors without an injector harness upgrade?
I am an auto so not sure how that will play into power but my power goal is 270-300whp. Which is probably beyond breaking point for a potentially non forged 08 2.4 LE5
But if it blows it will blow in a glorious way!

THe LS4 was only proven not to work well on the LSJ not the 2.4 which has higher compression as well as added displacement.
I realize a 2.6 is hard on the m62 as well as creating a good amount of additional heat. However between e85 and the cooling upgrades I should be in good shape.
I will start off at 5 rib if I have any issues I will switch over to 6 rib.

well us 2.4 guys can drop a lil bit less... for example LSJ guys stock boost level is 11psi and we are 9psi. so he might still be in the efficiency range still. But it will be close to the whole blowing ur engine. im real interested to see how it works out for u! Oh a suggestion I would get a tranny cooler to help ur tranny being auto like myself. I love the power and I plan on going with what u listed in the future just dont have money saved up if it blows the engine u know,

well I have ran mine for about 2 months now and no issues here... our tranny is pretty strong and i honestly didnt need to put it on there just yet but was told my guy to do it to be on the safe side. What issues came up with the cooler?
i run a built trans and no cooler. i would not recommend a trans cooler either. i would however recommend getting the tranny built to handle a fair amount of torque and hp.

Time for Maven or whoever recommends against tranny coolers to chime in before the anti-cooler meme becomes defacto fact. I've googled the issue extensively and have found basically zero evidence to support not having one. Even ZZP recommended one for my SC kit. If foaming is the issue get a good 'flush' (really just a full drain of ALL oem ATF) and add full synthetic, wynns or amsoil ATF.
