vaccum source?.. maybe with pics?
vaccum source?.. maybe with pics?
hey, just made a fiberglass triple pod for my center of the dash.. got a aem wideband, voltmeter, and just to fill a spot i bought a matching vaccum guage.. just hooks up to a "T" part that you hook to a vaccum line.. i do have it hooked a fitting tapped into my intake, and i figured thatd make it work but i guess theres not enough vaccum in the intake to make it work.. so can someone help me with prefereably a pic and arrow to what line to t off of to get a vaccum pressure? dont wanna start cutting lines and not have the parts to fix it back.. i have a 2006 ss 2.4.. thanks for anyones help!
Without cutting/drilling a hole somewhere, there are no unused ports -- even for getting a vacuum reading. If you can get an adapter that fits the best place would probably be a "T" in the brake booster line -- you could replace the metal connector in it just above the transmission...follow the brake booster line from in front of the throttle body down to the tranny. You'll find the connector I'm referring to. You'll get enough vacuum from there to make a vacuum gauge work.
if i read everything right, all he needs is a vacuum port for a vacuum gauge...if so just take a reducer tee and cut the line comming off the bottom of the manifold and tap into that...it worked just fine for me
i've seen a guy with a mechanical boost gauge connected to his vaccum line on a 2006 SS 2.4
it looked sick
very very very easy installation
you want to T it in this hose and you will get a perfect reading:

im not that much of a noob that i know you wont get a boost reading from a n/a car lol.. but thanks lol
thank man i seen that line but where it was plastic pipe i was scared to cut it(looked expensive to replace from gm) i do have a T that came with the guage so ill giver her a snip and see how it works.. thanks for the quick replys!

put the T in last night and replaced the plastic pipe with some rubber stuff for a eaiser install.. vaccum is reading perfect 25IN-hg then to zero when at 3/4 throttle and up.. dont know what its reading the vaccum pressure of! but longs the needle moves i dont give a hoot lol.. thanks again for the pic and info!
