Vibrant header/dp combo fitment for 2.4

hey, has anyone installed the vibrant header/dp for the 2.4 with the stock exhaust system, and is it a direct fit.
I called Performance Improvments and they said that it would take some modifications, but on the cobalt addiction website they say its direct fit. Is it, or is it not?

Also wondering the same thing, any info would be great! Im looking to get the cobalt addiction header and a unknown catted downpipe. Buying it from a local cobaltss.net member who used to have the ss/na and just got the 09 ss/tc.(Luckey bastered, lol)

I've heard so many different things about this. Some ppl say its a direct fit and others say I need to modify.
It would be nice to hear from someone that has done this to a 2.4.
ss/tc sounds nice

I think it really depends on the year of your cobalt.

Excellent! I'm going to get it. How does it sound? Did you bolt it to the stock system?

ATTENTION!!! I just read this on TURBOTECHRACING.COM........

NOTE: PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING:

Fits all 2.0 SS/SC Models 2005-07 with no modifications, 100% bolt on.

Fits the 2.2/2.4L Cobalt if your car does not have the SAI (Secondary Air Injection) Please check to make sure you do not have SAI before you order, as returns will not be accepted for this reason. SAI came on some 2006-09 Cobalts. 2.2/2.4L Cobalts built in 2005 should not have SAI (please check yours, before you order to make sure).

I think SAI is an extra little hose that comes out of you stock air box. Mine doesnt have one.
I didnt want a raspy sound either, so this will be perfect. Did you install it yourself? Was it difficult?

yea i installed it. Wasnt hard at all really. pretty striaght forward. A impact made it alot easier tho instead of having to break them loose by hand. The head bolts will come off with little effort by hand tho.

I noticed when comparing stock manifold to the vibrant header, my stock one had a port on the side that came from the corner of the head into the manifold and then ran into one of the exhaust ports but on the vibrant header there was nothing there. It would actually block it off. I just figured it was for the egr valve?

i have one for an o2 sensor but im not sure if its because i didnt swap my sensors back or not. I used the sensors from the car i took the header off of and its probably posible one of them is bad. I highly doubt its header related tho.

Bingo...

Here is how you find out if you do have SAI:

https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/2-2l-l61-performance-tech-45/secondary-air-injection-late-production-2006-l61s-38488/

Also VERY few 2.4L have SAI... Many 2.2L do....

Also if you find this kit cheaper, somewhere else, let us know, send us a PM with the link...

well its kinda hard to tell cause i installed my intake and header in the same day. When i drove it after the header installed it felt like a whole new car. Around 4.5K the engine starts to scream and pull all the way to redline. Very nice. I noticed it very well.

i installed mine last year...i have an 06 2.4 cobalt ss and it was bolt on....like an hour and a half long project...i think the hardest part is getting the stock downpipe and exhasut manifold apart....but once its off you fly right through...just make sure to pull the protective covering over the 02 sensor down a little dont just twist the whole thing vcuz it could cause damage to it....but yeah easy install just a ratchet and some muscle is all you need really
