Water dripped out of filler cap into filler hole?
I have a quick question you may be able to answer. I was changing the oil in my girlfriends' 2.4L 07 Pontiac G5 today which requires you to take a plastic shroud off to get to the filter. I changed the oil and the filter and filled the engine with Castrol Syntec.
Next, I cleaned out the engine bay with some cleaner and a garden hose and dried it out as best as I could with a towel and ran the engine for a few moments to evaporate the rest of the moisture.
My problem happened when I went to put the plastic shroud on the engine which requires you to take the oil filler cap off (located on the valve cover). When I took the cap off a few water drops from cleaning the engine came out of the top of the oil cap and dripped right down in the filler hole. Will this moisture be damaging to the engine, rust the internals, etc? Should I change the oil again? I did run the engine about 100 miles after this in hopes of burning the water off before letting the car sit overnight.
Thanks for your help from an obsessive car guy,
Chris
