When the 2.4 gets sluggish

Any ideas on how to remove some sluggery? Plugs have 15K on them. AEM intake and Maglaflow cut n weld muffler. Any economical suggestions? Clean MAF and throttle body? Fuel injectors? Better plugs? Fuel treatments? I have 147K on motor. Driver mod?

Different heat range plugs won't make a difference on a N/A. As long as they aren't fouled. Clean MAF and TB definitely good to get into the habit of. Super easy. I run seafoam through my tank once every oil change or two, but also use quality gas. Can still hang with new V6 Camaros.

Here is what it did for my pistons in my project car. Just pour it in your tank right before a fill up.

That's out of the car and in its concentrated form with scrubbing action, you can do that with anything. lol Seafoam in the gas tank really doesn't do anything, pale oil and naphtha when burned in the combustion chamber don't do **** to clean the cylinders. If your concerned about your fueling system being dirty, send the injectors out to be sonic cleaned. It's $16 dollars an injector and keep a clean fuel filter. You will actually cause more problems then you solve by throwing additives in the gas tank, especially anything oil or kerosene based, which slows combustion time. I've done dozens of repairs where the injectors were gummed up or the plugs severely fouled from these damn cheap ass additives. The only additive worth a damn is the redline fuel injector cleaner which is comprised mostly of PolyEther Amine, a very strong detergent used in chevron techron.

I'd always had good luck with it in my Nova days. I'll probably continue to use it. Took the Nova with its burnt or coked valve or whatever it was, and made it sound new again. But I suppose it was also concentrated then. Quick google search shows the Shell fuel I always use contains PEA also. Guess I'm fine there. I'm antsy to pull this motor apart to see how clean or dirty it is, if only it wasn't my daily.

Apparently works great when directly applied to parts.

I'd be curious to see what it looks like as well. I also only run tier1 fuels as well, shell and sunoco specifically which is much better for your car. There is a noticeable difference in the way t he car drives (im talking about KR) when using sunoco vs wawa gas. The only thing I don't like about when people pour that seafoam directly into the cylinder and let it sit like in the video is that it can dislodge crud around the piston rings on older engines, which is actually what is holding compression in the cylinder on a worn out engine. We used the seafoam injection through the intake on my bothers direct injected mazda speed6 which has the same coking issues the LNF's have, and it did absolutely **** nothing on his engine except blow lots of white smoke out the back for a few minutes. But to be fair to that teset, his valves are probably some of the worst valves I have ever seen on a car. The crud is probably a couple CM's thick.

Replacing fuel filter, cleaning MAF and throttle body this weekend and cleaning air filter. Maybe that will help a bit....

Helped a bit for sure. The throttle body likes to get dirty at the pivot points. Glad I took the time to do it.
