How about against the '06 Impala LTZ? That one is basically the SS except with the 3.9 V-6 with 242 HP (two more horses than the supercharged 3.8 in the 2005 Impala SS) instead of the 300+ HP V-8 in the SS. According to Motor Trend, it does 0-60 in 7.8 (see http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...interior.html). Also according to Motor Trend, the Cobalt SS 2.4 5-speed does 0-60 in 7.1 (January 2006 issue - the article is not available on-line at Motor Trend).
Now, the question is how would the 2.4 SS Auto do against the '06 Impala LTZ? I suspect that the auto would reduce the 0-60 more than .7 seconds, so the Impalas would win.
If I can talk my wife into it, we'll find out. She just traded for an '06 Impala LTZ. I'll see if she's willing to street race my 2.4 auto SS.
I can see the cops now, pulling over a couple of "old people" street racing!
