Chevy Cruze to receive Turbocharged 1.4L engine, 40 MPG
Well one of you is looking at the upside of this. I'm keeping my cobalt for a long time now, until this whole small engine garbage goes away. Or i'll be one of the ass holes and buy a big old V-8 gas guzzling *****.
not going to stay with chevy if they continue to follow this route. there still is a large market for the cobalts. i see these ****** cars everywhere. i can't wait to see what kind of trucks they'll be putting out in the coming years.
Ugh! Why didn't GM just replace the stupid Aveo with this and redisign the Cobalt?
IMO it would've made ALOT more sense to do that. Does anyone even know if their going to discontinue the Aveo?

Well, we as Cobalt owners can probably convince chevy to do such a thing. We have a much larger forum population then the aveo.
I believe some of these quotes can be translated to "I'll have 3 years of payments left on my Cobalt when the CRUZE comes out, so I can't afford one and can't trade for one, so it sucks."
I've had two Cavaliers (a 1997 LS convertible and a 2000 Z/24) and now have a Cobalt (that's much more of a stripper than either of my Cavaliers were). I survived the switch from Cavalier to Cobalt. We'll all make it

Supposedly they are going to make the Groove to replace the Aveo. I know its not the Beat, but I guess after seeing Dodge's success with the new Calibur, they want a SUV looking micro machine, too.
This just hot off the presses, 95% of the cobalt owners don't buy their cars to be tuners, they buy them cause they are cheap to operate/own. You can also thank the gov't for all the EPA mandates. Soon we will all be driving these tiny little cars and big powerful gas guzzlers will be off road use only.
So 40MPG is awesome and you don't get the extra complexity and cost of a hybrid powertrain. Battery technology is still isn't where it needs to be to keep up with the 100k powertrain warranties that are now the industry standard.

Does powertrain warranty cover electric motors and batteries? or is that bumper to bumper?
I think most hybrids have some kind of warranty specifically covering the batteries and other hybrid components.
As for the hybrid warranty, what happens when GM voids your warranty because of an aftermarket stereo. Boy that will **** a man off

I would just add "gas guzzlers will survive (not sure if you were thinking of the Camaro?)
but GM just need to pump up the MPG of the smaller, higher volume cars to keep CAFE in check.
A 1.4L Turbo would be the same or faster VS a 2.2L--esp 4 speed auto VS 6 speed--due to its flat torque curve--and kill it in mileage.
I have an automatic 2.4L and its an awful combo. A Cruze SS with 2.0 LNF and 6 speed auto sounds great to me.
Some people are so afraid of the future.............
