The only thing missing is the ability to Frankenstein cars and motors, but that could come in time... hopefully
You forgot torque... Oh wait so did Honda.

I won't ever buy a Cruze unless they put in a 2.0 LSJ or LNF and convert it to rear wheel drive. That'll NEVER happen..

Cobalts forever

most of you wining over this car are sad. its turbo! the tuning potentials are much more than with a 2.2 and i bet the engine is built a lil', so 160-170 hp would be easy as a tune. turbos are also too much fun! most of you are hatin' because you want 1 but can't or too cobaltish. don't get me wrong i love my 'balt but a hatch of this with my lnf would win hands down in looks! just my .02

A 1.4L Turbo would be the same or faster VS a 2.2L--esp 4 speed auto VS 6 speed--due to its flat torque curve--and kill it in mileage.

I have an automatic 2.4L and its an awful combo. A Cruze SS with 2.0 LNF and 6 speed auto sounds great to me.

Some people are so afraid of the future.............

Its not that we are afraid of the future, but rather that we've seen what other automakers have done in the past with vehicles of similiar displacements. The Honda Civic of the 1990's is a prime example of something that we do not want Chevrolet to strive toward.

agreed...
i like the styling of the cobalt more, but the Cruze isnt bad..and yo guys need to realize....this is the equivalent to driving a 2.2l cobalt now....im sure there will be some sort of performance version....dont act like you're going to be stuck with the 1.4l turbo. nIn all honesty, yu'll probably still be stuck with your cars you have now...

Wow, I guess everyone thinks turbo=performance

There are probably more turbos used in efficiency applications than all you people realize.

I recently drove past the Lordstown plant.

What did I see but a 60 foot tall Cruze banner.

What I don't understand is why the Cobalt name has to be put to bed so quickly. It's only been five years

Yeah I don't get that at all. Cobalt has a decent rep--keep the name. Long as the Cruze is better then it will reflect positively on the Cobalt name.

Not like it was Cavalier---that name was beyond salvation--no matter how good the replacement!

It could be due to the fact that Cruze will also be sold in Europe under the same name; a name which has some cool style and feel to it, but can still be 'international'.

...I think GM's hesitant to being a Cobalt to Europe, thinking it may not be well received, perhaps thought of as something older and 'too American'. So, in the end, it's all about marketing. It's good to see GM think globally, as they've not been so adept at doing so previously.

I dont care what its called as long as its a good car and from what ive saw the 4 door version is pretty sexy

Its a factory turbo car so im sure it will be easy to mod

Say what you want about the cavalier but my 02 ls sport was one of the best cars ive ever owned and id buy another in a heartbeat

I think it will be a fun little pocket rocket. If it really does cost 12-13K,get 40 mpg I'd buy one. Tis but a turboswap and HPT from 220-230. I'm feeling a GT2259, some cool 14" rims, and a whole bunch of giggles every time I whip it's bumblebee butt.

The LSJ pretty reliably gets better mileage than the LE5.

I agree.

Same here. I'll go elsewhere to get what I want. I've thought about dabbling into bigger cars with the G8 GXP when it comes out, but I really do like the smaller cars like the SS. I'm definitely not going to sacrifice performance though. I get 40mpg in my SS/SC for highway driving, so what's going to motivate me to give up 100hp?

Except they still kept a performance model. I don't have a problem with the styling or anything else about the Cruze, it's that they're basically turning it into a neutered grocery getter.

I have driven every model of Civic throughout the 90s'.

I don't see how the Cruze is striving towards that at all.

It's larger, heavier and will make 30-40 peak hp more plus a bit more torque then that. Not too mention a realtively flat torque curve.

I really can't see a loss in performance VS the 2.2L--and it will gain mileage.

So its 1.4L big deal---turbos make them feel alot bigger
