I drove a bunch of them when I worked at a chevy dealer. Brand new they shift kind of funny, but I guess they learn how you drive them so the shifting is supposed to get better. Overall nice interiors but a little slow for my liking.

Yea, autos are a "learning" transmission.. Get a 6-speed eco.. You won't even care about losing the speed after you see the awesome mpgs you get.. And the 6-speed Eco Cruze I believe is the quickest cruze you can get

When i was looking for a car for my Girlfriend
We test drove A
Cruze Eco (second favorite car well equiped)
honda Civic (from the drivers seat it is alright but anywhere else it just feels like a shitty car)
Toyota Corolla (dislike = Honda)
Mitsubish lancer se awc (We both like this car the best in all catagiries Minus fuel economy which is still amazing even if it is 6MPG lower than the rest) But now that its cold and stormy the AWC is ******* awesome and heated seats FTW) not to mention an epic Warranty...
The cruze was pretty much a tie with the Mitsubishi But AWC beat out MPG in the end.
My only gripe is the stearing wheel feels to damn tiny on the Cruze

I want to like this car so bad! I just can't! No coupe, no sale. Not mention itty bitty engines... wheres my 2.4 option?!
Also it's very oriental looking in my opinion. I HATE the tail ends of those things. The first one I saw I thought was a new KIA...

The car feels pretty peppy in 1st and 2nd gear throughout the band, feels alittle peppy for the first half of the 3rd gear band, and 4th, 5th, 6th feels ***** slow like theres no turbo at all lol.
BUT its an economy car so I didnt even expect any of the peppiness that we got in the first 3 gears. Felt like our 2011 Sentra SER spec V we traded in to be quite honest at first. (until you get to the upper gears lol.)
