The LDK is not a 300+hp replacement for the LNF.

The LDK is not the engine shown in the picture(thats a diesel)

The LDK is the optionl engine for the 2011 Regal and 2012 Malibu. It is a 220hp version of the LNF.

It is incredibly unlikely it will be seen in the Cruze, the cruze is not sold with an L850 (USA) style ECOTEC anywhere in the world, and the transmissions used in the Cruze do not accept a USA style ECOTEC engine. The Cruze is coming with a 1.8L NA engine (think Saturn Astra) and a turbo 1.4L engine (smaller but turbo version of the Satrun Astra engine)

There are 300+hp version of the LNF out there.....the hot ECO is supposed to be 345-350hp.

The Caddy ATS is supposed to get the hot ECO, the hot Regal might get it as well.

The ECO isnt dying, but the LDK isnt the hot new kid on the block, its basically just a detuned LNF

Shawn are you saying that you wouldn't pay good money for a mediocre performing car that will be at the bottom end of the resale spectrum as soon as you drive it off the lot?

(that was sarcasm btw)

I totally agree with you.

Thats how the evo is setup as well. The exhaust is in the front and goes back. It makes turbo swaps easier ( except for having to take off the front bumper ).

Thats how the turbo 1.4L in the Cruze is gonna be, but thats not the LDK engine. Problem is the 1.4L turbo is integrated into the echaut manifold, so you MUST replace the manifold to do a turbo upgrade.

i dont understand why GM doesnt make an AWD Cruze with at least a 2.0L turbo engine that can make big numbers like the Evo and STi

Because they are 60% government owned and would have make a case that such a car would sell and be profitable........ Not to mention GM doenst have a current small car AWD system.

bring over one from overseas

i know opel or one of their other companies builds an AWD compact car

and it would be profitable, who doesnt want a car that can be driven year round in northern states with snow and still get decent mileage instead of owning a winter car or gas hog truck?

GM doesnt have a compact AWD car.

And lots of people dont want them, thats why soccer moms with one kid drive Escalades.

Waited for what? A $28K 4door sedan the size of a Volkswagen CC or Acura TSX, that has 40hp less than a Cobalt SS?

Thats REALLY gay. Why the hell would they make it like that?

On the bright side at least it gives you an excuse to get a nice ported mani. Only problem with this is it would probly cost a small fortune ( as most exhaust manifolds do ).

It really wouldnt though. The price jump to do an AWD conversion would make the SS very non market friendly. Besides, the market already has AWD cars you can drive. Theyre called subaru's, and evo's.

Not only that, but a lot of these companies have each others back. For example, originally the caliber SRT4 was going to be AWD and around 300 hp. Unfortunately that would mean bad business for mitsubishi, so chrysler made it FWD with 285 hp. Pretty gay, I know.

what i dont get is why does everyone make such a big deal about awd on these cars? i mean i live in chicago and i dont nearly b*tch about fwd as most people on here. and people are also forgetting that awd = more hp lost through the drive train. yeah an sti has 305 hp but it only dynos around 250-265 to the wheels. plus if they do come out with a cruze ss. get ready to pay up for it. at least 28k as stated b4. i got my 2010 ss/tc for 15k brand new. so im surely happy lol. also everyone complains about 6spd, who cares. again for example the sti is 6spds awd and 305 hp. gets 24-25 mpg on the highway. i can cruise at 80 and get 27 mpgs lol. the whole point of the ss/tc was BANG FOR THE BUCK. the cruise costs more to produce, its bigger, nicer materials, etc... all things that will increase the price. i bet you a fully equipped 1.4l turbo cruise will go for at least 21k. like i said ill still take my 15k brand new ss/tc. if they do come out with an ss model it wont be for at least another few years. just hope that you wont have to pay an arm and a leg to buy it lol.

PS before anyone says anything about how im an idiot for comparing the sti to the cobalt. stfu. its called an example. go PMS somewhere else haha

i think its needed. most modded ss/tc have no traction until half way through third. and if you want to upgrade the turbo, even more traction issues.

an awd cruze does not make sense tho. its supposed to be the cheap speed segment. nice materials + awd and a powerfull engine is gonna make for one really expensive grocery getter.

I know right why doesn't Ferrari make a sub 30k compact with a 300hp V8 and AWD + 6 spd!??!?! Oh wait cuz it doesn't make any sense and GM would NEVER turn a profit on a vehicle like that.

Seriously some people just need to get off the awd bandwagon...or if you really think it is that almighty...go buy a car with that feature.

That being said...I DO think GM should make a performance variant of the Cruze...WITHOUT AWD...sadly, though, I think it will be years before they put out a fun 4 banger again. With the camaro v6 being as powerful/fuel efficient as it is (although heavy as *****) they probably don't see a need to put out a car like a Cruze SS...that makes me sad.

o and to add one more thing. the person who said that they would produce an awd cruze with around 300 hp. and they wouldnt care if it competed against the camaro. YEAH RIGHT. they would never have a 4 banger that could compete against the v8. that would be stupid. why do you think honda scrapped the rsx type s? cuz the civic si was cheaper, same power, etc... i personally think that there is only one reason why the camaro is so heavy, besides the obvious things like more reinforcement etc.., so that it will weigh more and wont get to the vette specs. i mean its all marketing.
