REPORT: Cruze SS Possible
I definitely hate how they've made the bowtie so prominent on the front. I've never liked the Chevrolet emblem, anyway... Hence why my rear bowtie is gone and my front one is now black.

I'm sorry, but the Cruze is fugly. They are already talking about a mid cycle refresh, and it's not even out yet .... They never gave the Cobalt a mid cycle refresh. It has looked the same since 2005. They are just giving up on it, and replacing it with an ugly looking 4-door. They should have spent their money and revised the Cobalt for 2011, instead of designing an entirely new model. By the time a SS Cruze model comes out, I'll be well past my Sport Compact phase, and most likely purchasing a higher end performace car.

"Using General Motors Delta II front-wheel-drive small-car platform, the Cruze was developed globally over a 27-month period at a cost of $US4 billion ($A5.3 billion). GM built 221 prototypes during that time, with testing done in Australia, the US, Sweden, Canada, the UK, South Korea and Chin" - source: Go Auto AU
Who cares anymore...
I really don't care if they make a Cruze SS anymore. Not with the Buick Regal Grand Sport! That IS going to be my next car. It is sooooo sexy! AWD LNF with a couple upgrades, there are already LNF Cobalts here pushing 350hp/400tq.
GOOD JOB GM!

Actually it's supposed to be in the mid $30k range. Caranddriver say that there about it. The regal itself isn't that expensive, and this is the performance model of that. It is going to be a hot ticket item that's for sure. Audi A4 look out. Half the price and better performance!
I don't understand why they wouldn't make a performance model...if for nothing more than marketing. When they brought they Cobalt into the lineup and had it in that commercial with the Corvette and the bumping...it featured the SS model Cobalt not the shitty unexciting looking base model.
It would be a great way to get people to at least come into the dealership to check out the lower end models...I mean it's not like it would honestly cost them that much to do a performance variant...they've got the motor and drivetrain (no people we don't need a 6 speed...we just don't)...and a slightly aggressive front fascia and some lips all around wouldn't take too much effort. Please GM do it do it do it!!
The Cobalt didn't have to wait until some retarded midlife cycle to receive a performance edition!

Why do you say that??
Look at the Cobalt SS T/C - great combo of power and efficiency, beat the S2000CR, Evo, STi, and IS-F around VIR.
Camaro - 304HP for $23K, or 426HP for $31K.
Malibu - Better than Accord and Camry
Equinox - Best in class small SUV
Corvette Grand Sport, Z06, ZR1 - Speak for themselves.
Not to mention the new Buicks which are class leading, as well as the new Cadillac CTS and CTS-V.
the concept Aveo RS looks pretty damn nice IMO. Huge improvement over the corrent model, I wouldn't mind DD'ing one of these:

Of course half those features won't make it to production (Brembo brakes front and back), but nontheless its still pretty cool for a small car.
