We took a 05 STS in trade, fully loaded, NAV, V8 sunroof all the stuff, and holy **** the thing was quick, think it was a 340hp v8. car had 70k traded in we gave here like 11k i think and were trying to sell it for $14,995 for 6 months, then finally the power steering went on a test drive, we were into it for like $12,500 and let it got for $10,995 after like 8 months. Think was such a shitbox, it also had this noise from behind the dash sounded like something clicking over and over, we had to send it to GM because our techs couldnt find it..... just a headache of a car that was over $40k new.
luxury cars depreciate a lot. it's something that you have to deal with when you buy luxury. I think I remember a guy on here that bought an 04-05 E55 AMG for around $25k and I believe that was a $100k car with options.

very true. check out some of the 05 and 06 BMW 6 series convertibles... those things were high $90K new, but i have seen quite a few on craiglist for low 20K. i couldnt justify buying a used car because of the ridiculous depreciation as soon as you drive it off the lot.

Little high estimates there, you're not going to pay MSRP either.

These things are fun to drive very sporty, they pull too. I like them there actually really compact in person. You don't get that big ass Cadillac feel.

Good morning!

We (the social media customer service agents) were able to get behind the wheel an ATS a month or so ago. It is compact, but still was a lot of fun to drive. If anybody wanted for me to help them set up a test drive of one, let me know! I'll need your ZIP code so I can find the available vehicles in your area.

The ATS i am giving stats for is the 3.6 v6 rated at 320hp, the car weighs 3500lbs, the Regal GS turbo is rated at 270hp but weighs 3700lbs, this is the problem with these new cars GM is making them too FAT! The quality and workmanship is outstanding in the Buick GS!

Our cobalt ss with GMS1 stats 0-60 5.3- quarter mile 13.5sec. and lat gs .92! All this for $25k! In other words our cars would rip the doors off these two new cars.
Our cars really are one of a kind, GM still has not made a car that can even comes close to the Cobalt SS turbo in its size category!

I finally lined up against a 2010 Mustang GT, from a stand still we raced 3 times in a row, well it wasnt even a race ripped the doors off of it! when i beat him the first time we stopped at traffic light ready to race again and he commented, is that a turbo, its is a quick car, when the light turned green, I ripped his doors off again! Loved it! Looking for a 2011 5.0 mustang now, might be a closer race!

I look forward to seeing a ATS -V twin turbo V-6
Compare a Luxury sedan to a young persons cheap thrill with shitty everything except motor/suspension...........

I am not buying until I get 150k, more likely 200k on my SS/TC (bought new April 2010 with 76k on the clock). That said, I have casually thought this car over and if I went with anything in the AWD world, this is the most likely pick for me. A properly done replacement for the Cobalt SS/TC is the most preferable solution but at this moment a Regal GS, Verano T, LTZ 3/4 ton with Gen V small block, and the 2014 SS Sedan are all on the list of possibly being the next purchase and that is just from GM section of the list. I have a lot of remodeling to do and a truck + trailer could make a lot of that so very much easier.

I'd get a 335i before an ATS. Probably an E90 though, the new F30s or whatever don't look as good.

no you cant interchange them but performance-wise between the two? You wouldnt even know the difference. Those turbos are identical in almost everyway except what brand logo is on them. Sure they might not bolt up the same but thats due to the Auto manufacturers discretion when making there car. I think the LNFII engines now bolt on the hotside charge pipe instead of a rubber 3ply connector and clamps.

If I had to guess Id say the mount for the charge piping on the compressor and the exhaust mount are different. Its definately going to be an LNFII (LHU) they put in the ATS. There is no difference between the LNF and the LNFII (LHU) they just squeezed out more hp for the LNFII which you'll find in this car and the Regal GS.

EDIT: Well my guessing has never been so wrong with respect to the ATS engine LOL.

look what I found.

ECOTEC 2.0L Turbocharged (LHU)
Specifications
Notes

Displacement: 1998cc

Compression Ratio: 9.2:1

Assembly Site: Spring Hill, Tennessee

Configuration: Dual Overhead Camshaft (4 valves per cylinder)

Horsepower:
220 hp @ 5300 rpm (Regal Turbo)
270 hp @ 5300 rpm (Regal GS)

Torque:
260 lb-ft @ 2000 rpm (Regal Turbo)
295 lb-ft @ 2400 rpm (Regal GS)

Features:
Continuously variable valve timing
Direct injection
Twin-scroll turbocharger
Engine Family: ECOTEC

The high-output LHU in the Regal GS is the replacement engine for the LNF in the former Cobalt SS. This is the engine that will power the upcoming Buick Verano Turbo as well.

ECOTEC 2.0L Turbocharged (LTG)
Specifications
Notes

Displacement: 1998cc

Compression Ratio: 9.2:1

Assembly Site: Spring Hill, Tennessee

Configuration: Dual Overhead Camshaft (4 valves per cylinder)

Horsepower/Application:
272 @ 5300 rpm (Cadillac ATS)

Torque:
260 lb-ft @ 2400 rpm (Cadillac ATS)

Features:
Continuously variable valve timing
Twin-scroll turbocharger
Direct injection
Forged steel crankshaft

This is the all-new 2.0-liter turbo. It shares nothing, not even the block, with the 2.0-turbo in the Buick Regal today. Overally, this engine has reduced friction by 16% over the LHU.

I am right though. In this pic, its clear that this turbo bolts to the charge piping.
