Stage 3 05 Cobalt SS/SC vs. 05 SRT-4 w/intake

Raced my buddy's SRT-4 last night. It was a completely even race. When he shifted i would pull on him and then when i would shift he would pull on me. It was even up all the way to 120mph.
I dont know what is wrong with my car, All i hear about is GM stage 2's walking stock srt-4's all the time. My car has a slight hiccuping problem in low RPM's which i believe is because of my CAI so i took it off and put my stock airbox back on and went for a spin and the hiccuping is gone and i get alot better throttle response too. So when i go to the track on wednesday we'll see how it does.

Like i dont understand, he might be a better driver than me at launching his car but once we get moving i dont understand how one driver can be better than the other. I make max horsepower at 6500 rpms, ive done it both ways, shifting at 6500 rpms and 7k and i notice no difference. So how do i make myself a better driver when i shift fast enough to snap the shifter, i dont know what there is to improve other than launching. I'll admit im not the best launcher but you would think i would just catch up and then pull on him but i dont. IDK?

SRTs have a mean higher end though. If you can get him out the hole you should stay ahead till you shut down, on paper it looks like you'd have an easy win. What are you launching from?

i launch between 1500 and 2000 rpms, get moving a little bit and then romp on it. Sometimes ill get a good launch while other times ill start spinning at the top of 1st gear.

yah because i cant launch that great. My 60' times are like 2.4 or 2.5, i did get a 2.2 one time but ran a 14.6 @101 due to wheel hop at the top of first gear.

I suggest just practise launching and possibly some quicker shifts. You should be out infront in this race unless he has some factory freak.

Race him from just a roll and see how you do.
1) you win, than you know its ur launch
2) you lose, than you know that it's ur shifting or your car is not running as well as it should.

Just a thought.

Well since i put my stock airbox back on i notice quicker throttle response and the is no hiccuping at lower rpms so we'll see how it does at the track on wednesday. I was just cruising around after i put the stocker back on and it seemed like the car had a little more get up and go than before so i hope that putting the airbox back on turns out to be beneficial.

as for hackabuse, i never claimed to be john force, like i said im not that great at launching

You hear about GM Stage 2 Balts, but you have Intense. How are the Intense 3 and GM 2 compared anyways?

Intense puts down a little bit better numbers and has a little more agressive tune, plus has a 2.9" pulley compared to GM's 3.0" but they are pretty even.
