At least someone else is interested. I haven't done much more. Work hasn't been that busy latley, so I haven't had enough spare $$$ to buy the pistons & cams. I have been piddling with small parts like welding fittings onto the valve cover, and machining unused bits off the head. As the racing season gets underway, I'll get back to working on the motor. First things first though, I tore the car up a bit at the last race last year, and need to repair it first.

Pistons arent too much, who are you going through?
im working towards this myself but the rest of the build had to be put on hold due to some financial and family dynamics....
so far im just around 200whp with mostly stock internals (78lb valve springs, stg 2 cams, & shaved head .020")...so its DEF possible
i plan on getting 11.5:1 or 12:1 comp ratio pistons, bore it out a lil, port and polish cyl head w/ oversized valves, and then add the supporting stuff (balance rotating assembly, remove balance shafts, rods, etc) and hoping to hit 250-275 whp
def possible, just time and money

I'm running Alcohol, so I want at least 14.5:1 JE will custom make them for $800. Which seems reasonable to me. They will take a mold from my combustion chamber, and machine the dome to match. Some of the guys on here don't like JE, but since they are the ones GM and Roush are using they will proably work for me.
Keep us posted on how yours goes.

Best piston for an N/A will be an X forging style
Try to talk to CP Pistons, I know they provided some pistons to GM Racing and do quite a lot of X forgings (aka 'boxed and shaped').
JE are fine too, but often makes slightly heavier pistons than others.

9.5 so I guess it must be for a boosted engine,
Full round designs for this application at Wiseco, and this is much simplier than a good N/A design

Wiseco's low comp are used to be full rounds, high comps are slipper ones
It's not inferior, it's just not for the same application
slipper :
classic full round :
X-forging / boxed and shaped :

Its doable. But a cosworth YDX is a drop in 2.3L (Mazda MZR motor.)

Also are you planning on doing an ITB setup?

yea, but there was one downside to them that I got around fairly easy since I have such an awesome machinest. The oil squirters had to be machined a lot because the new pistons had clearance issues with them. But like I said, my machinest is bad ass and he made it work.
