airbox mod troubles?
I recently decided to mod the air box like staged07ss by drilling various holes in the plastic filter holder and also switched out the filters with a K&n E-0777 filter. My problem is i haven't heard even a hint of whine. I've red lined it and don't hear a thing. I pmed him and he was also confused to what i did wrong.

Clean your tb and the inside of your supercharger to the rotors a lot of carbon and dirt will stop you from hearing the wine. The sound comes from the air being sucked in ,smoother surface faster air.

Don't open your throttle body butterfly to much like a quarter inch no more ! You should be able to here the supercharger with a stock air box ...our dd is all stock and it wines a little on wot

Had an AEM SRI, and it whined like a little b***h!
Switched to modded airbox, and haven't heard a peep...
Its normal, just enjoy the silence while reminiscing about the whine

Fyi, the aem intake for the LSJ is not a short ram intake....

post a picture of what you did, maybe I can help you fix it up a bit.
Pulley size and how high you rev will alter sound as well, but as I told you before, when I drove my car off the dealer lot brand new, I had no problem hearing blower whine.

The AEM one is sort of both, lol.
It doesn't relocate the air intake like a typical CAI, since its already outside of the engine bay.
It just replaces your airbox with a smooth pipe and filter, which describes an SRI.
But by definition a true SRI shortens the length of intake pipe to give air the shortest distance to the intake manifold, but doesn't try to intake the coldest air possible.
I used you as an example when I modded my box, and when I switched from my AEM to the modded box, there was a HUGE loss in blower whine....
Maybe I did something wrong... But I don't think so though since my power remained, and my mileage improved (yay!)
I do have an aftermarket muffler. It's not loud or ricey, but louder than stock, so maybe its covering up some noise.
Guess ill be cleaning out my TB this weekend!

The AEM intake is an expensive airbox mod. Thats all it is. Dont be fooled by it. I used to have one.

After reading your article, I'm back to stock filter with modded box.
I just noticed a BIG difference in blower whine volume when I switched.
Guess thats the price I pay driving like a grandpa and keeping it under 4k lol
