i really need to stop thinking.
the "272" grind is fine for our cars. whats bad is, i set up an excel file at work and compared all the cams, stock. 272, jbp, gm racing specs. the 272 falls right in the middle. i believe i have made up my mind, IF i can get him to keep the lsa the same

Well what are you going to aim for 272s... or using gmpp specs? C'mon you can't keep us in the dark!

nope, not over thinking. just being smart about a major upgrade. convert all the numbers to mm, or inches. don't mix them. then look at the numbers next to each other, either in notepad, or excel. you will see what i see
this is true but on a stock head...i am flow matching my head to my cams.. and vice versa that way my head and cam set up is "perfect" so to speak
LIAR.... um yeah cant you get completely blank cam's from gm for the 2.0 lsj??? i mean **** if your gonna go on and on about the 272 evo grind cam's bieng to much then get some blank's and have at it.. and yes cam's for a blower car should be different than a turbo car.(ive taken an N/A 5.0 from fully built to a single turbo mild build to a whipple SC moderate build and then a twin turbo setup that was NASTY like 700+ rwhp and tq and every one needed different cam's and well UTI payed for it all cause it was hot rod u) but as it's been said before the LSJ is a heat maker so a set of good cam's wont hert anything at all and if there's ferra valve train **** in there it's an 8k+ rev limit. and lot's of fun.

No, not if you want to preserve the cam sensor.

Maybe. More importantly is the difference from the stock cam to the cam you are changing to. You can't just pick a grind because it "should" be supercharger friendly. I choose a grind based on differences from the stock grind as well as my desired powerband after headwork. One example of my choice of the HKS 272 grind is the similar cam overlap when compared to stock. For the original application, this was to minimize exhaust reversion. It helps me by allowing me to use stock engine management and to preserve the ability of the electronic throttle to control idle. Everything from blower pulley size, head flow, and gear ratios played a role in my decision.
(ive taken an N/A 5.0 from fully built to a single turbo mild build to a whipple SC moderate build and then a twin turbo setup that was NASTY like 700+ rwhp and tq and every one needed different cam's and well UTI payed for it all cause it was hot rod u) but as it's been said before the LSJ is a heat maker so a set of good cam's wont hert anything at all and if there's ferra valve train **** in there it's an 8k+ rev limit. and lot's of fun.

... wow... totally missed this thread.
WRT to cam configurations, the straight 272 has been known to be a downer.
Of course EVO's and DSM's are turbo, but I've heard that most of them run a 272/264 setup.
Something worth looking into. I'd be all over this, except I'm a little pre-occupied with 3 other projects right now.

Crane Cams is who decided my grind. They told me to send them a list of everything done to the engine, what power band I wanted, what gear ratios, weight, boost, ect. I sent them all that info, and thats the grind they came up with to be best suited for a my app, which is a supercharged 4 banger.
