Cobalt ENGINE Swap

i have a 2006 2.2 Cobalt LT 5 speed standerd 2 door. back in the fall i bought a SS 2.0 supercharged motor all wiring harnesses included ect.. for 1000 bucks from a gm sponcerd racing team, cant go wrong AND which now they use turbo engines so they sold them next to nothing... well today i was driving to work and my 2.2 stock motor decided enough is enough and choked and died.... so i need to kno WHAT i need exactly and WHAT to do to make this swap possible... you can go in full detail about this cause these mechanics ive called dont kno **** all about swaps and how to figure out whats compatible or not... one guy said that the SS model has complete diffrent wire harnesses and that im pretty much fucked trying to get the computer to work... another said the tranny wont fit, then another said it would... so i think i will leave this to you guys, the experts. thanks alot

To make wiring simple(easier its never simple) just get a standalone EMU.

That should be the one that should click automatically in your head. To be easier on you its easier just to get the whole powertrain and put it in the engine bay and check fitment, etc.

You will most likely have to change mount locations, etc.

IE: Be easier to sell that motor and just build your 2.2.

don't get a standalone, i don't know why people are all over it's nuts. Who even makes one for us??! don't throw info out there man because it sounds badass. You can use your information cluster, but an SS one would be better. This is going to take some serious work, it's not a honda...

A standalone can't control enough of the motor to even make it run, unless you're getting the one Area is developing. You are going to need EVERY single component from the SS engine bay, down to the windsheild washer bottle to make it seamless. You already had a manual transmission right?

you could technically use the same axles and hubs, but it would be better to swap to the SS. I am selling my axles, knuckles and hubs, complete with brakes in a few months, you may want to pick them up.

There is a lot more, i suggest you start compiling and add to the first post a list of what you have, and what you think you will need.

the swap can be done man. Relatively easily if you have a manual already. You will need the brake booster and fluid reservoir as well...

stupendous. Now, are you really really serous about this?

Maven is the man to talk to, but you will have to do some of your own research. And you'll need someone with HPT to look through the computer just in case.

I have a bad feeling this will end in a massive part out. Sorry, its a time and money consuming project that will be filled with problems.

unless your planning to put extra money into this to make it work, i would suggest this: sell the 2.0 motor, use the money to buy s/c kit (piece together), supporting mods and build/fix the 2.2l motor. you'll be happier.

good luck...massive build threads are what cobalt ss net is built on...and yes the supercharger install on your 2.2 will be much easier and simpler than trying to install the 2.0
