honestly....to make this work you will have to replace pretty much EVERY electrical device in your car. The 2 ECMs are completely different, and will not be able to communicate with the same components (I.E. its not a direct swap). You will need the power steering from an LSJ, the airbad sensors from an LSJ, the gauge cluster from an LSJ, the ABS sensors from an LSJ, and so on. There is no point at swapping engines at all, as it is MUCH cheaper to just buy a new L61 and build it up, or to sell your car and buy a LSJ cobalt. Its probably cheaper to buy a new LNF cobalt even....

I think there are 2.2L with blowers on them. Do some research. Rebuild a 2.2L and put a blower on it. Cheaper really.

so ls just that is what I have seen people go to for swaps...I'm going to a megasquirt just for a turbo upgrade.

Does HP offer it to where you can run stock PCM with full control?

like i said before you best bet is to sell the 2.0 motor, fix the 2.2l with upgraded/aftermarket parts and throw a blower on it. you'll more likely be able to push more than if not about 300+ hp...and use what ever remaining to fund supporting mods (suspension, wheels & tires, tune, etc.)

also this is something that's been done on here and can easily be followed. imho this swap is gonna cost too much in the long run with all the electrical you have to swap and adapt. and all the mechanical parts...

It's not only the engine, but you need a trans, maybe a cradle, and def hubs and axles. U are better off getting an ss/sc if you have to ask that question

If you don't know, you shouldn't be doing this yourself and neither should these "mechanics." Find someone in your area that you can pay to do this or wait a few months and learn as much as you can first. This is no easy little project.

Do you have any experience with work like this or do you think it's just a simple loop swopp and pull tie your shoes kind of thing? If you don't have a lift, a hoist, all the proper tools and some previous knowledge, this is a VERY VERY expensive project and will take a long looooong time.

I say you put the LSJ up for sale because it's been raced and sprayed on, It came from a race team. Probably not the most reliable thing to spend upwards of 8k plus for the swap and it will never be right. Swaps on these cars are not that easy! or Cheap!

Buy a 2.2 or use your old one and build it. forged internals, head and valvetrain, crank, etc. Then upgrade axles and clutch. Get injectors and maybe return fuel system. Then turbo it or put a blower on, exhaust, etc. maybe even the m62 from your lsj that you have.

fact is, for less money you can build a 2.2 with turbo and have a reliable setup that runs good and was a lot easier to do than an lsj swap. PS: There is nothing wrong with the 2.2 as an engine, plenty of parts are available and it can make power, just need forced induction.

I dont mean to ruin you plans, you do as you wish and I hope it goes well! But, you will have a lot easier and cheaper project if you just use a 2.2. Good luck and keep us posted on the project!

we need maven or halfcent to make a complete incompatability list. BTW, you can get a 2.2 resleeved and forged for like $2k, and then you'll have a new, running beast. Throw a turbo on there if u want some serious power, or just an M62 (like the one that may or may not have come with your motor you already bought) and you'll be running the exact same numbers

because im prety sure theyre not all interchangeable. The 2.2 and 2.4 one should be, as should the LNF ones, but the LSJ has a different style ECM (PT style?)
