i think it has a lot more to do with the DI system of the LNF and the mechanical fuel pump used to control the DI. Will the head physically fit is one thing but what are you going to do about fueling?

You fail.

DI is the big question. If it can bolt on, it would be a nice upgrade for those who want to turbo their 2.4.

DI FTW!

It should bolt right up, block casting is the same from what I understand, so the head bolt pattern should match. Not sure if anything else would work though, it would be a custom project for sure.

it would likely be easier and cheaper to just have work done on your existing head

what would be the point of switching from one VVT head to another unless you can pick one up for a hell of a price?

... as some people had mentioned... it should bolt up to the casting... however, there are no injector ports due to the LNF being DI.
You would need to either get the ports machined, or inject in the intake manifold.

Besides that... there is the question as to whether or not the LE5 and LNF use the same VVT control mechanism, and if the ECU will recognize it. I'd assume there should be no issue... but it's best to check.

wont work guys, the lnf has injector ports on the head, it is a direct injected engine, the le5 uses the intake ports to get the gas into the cylinders.

If it does bolt up it would most likely be a tuning nightmare

hmm, which means that probably rules out using the LNF intake manifold as well

I stand by what I said. If you want to turbo your 2.4, get the whole top end from an LNF and convert the 2.4 to run with DI.

all parts will physicall interchange. The LNF has very specific DI pistons with a little "sugar scoop" for certain engine modes to bankshot fuel off of.
You would need an entire harness, pcm, footcontrol etc. Bascially you could just buy an LNF complete, new for $3500. and be better off.

Would be sick to run a DI 2.4 turbo with custom DI pistons(as said above because of the way it throws fuel). That thing would be sick. You probably could run the LNF ECM. You would just have to make sure you have all the sensors. Would be pretty impressive but a **** load of money. most likely not worth it at all unless you really want a DI 2.4.

Your best bet is to take the 2.4 short block and put it in your 2.0 LNF.

Not unless you can force the PCM into PE all the time. Otherwise it will run like total **** without the sugar scoop.

I will have the first sets of DI pistons in about two weeks. I could have a set cut with the correct compression height for the 95mm stroke of the 2.4. The bore is the same.
weaker crank though.

has there been a change in bore size between the LSJ and LNF? if not, thats incorrect because the LE5 has a longer stroke and larger bore than other Ecotec motors
