LNF Swap in LSJ Cobalt
lol if the search function didnt suck so much im sure someone would have posted a link already to the other guys build. i know it took him awhile bevause he was one of the first, if not the first. and he found out the hard way that a whole cars harness was needed lol
I've been searching for two days.
Whole cars harness? As in rewire the whole thing?

Ive done the swap. But i went from a lsj to a lnf. Pain in the ass. Not worth the time unless your going to just tune the LNF and leave it alone. You can turbo that 2.2, put a set of forged rods, pistons and some arp had studs in it and have 400wheel for far less work. The wiring harness is different all the way around the car so its not like there are any short cuts. You really need a totalled LNF complete car to do the swap right. You have to then strip both cars down to bare body "seats carpet dash headliner pillars fuse boxes airbags and everything has to come out of both cars. swap brake lines, fuel pump, steering column, all modules under the dash, drill holes for the clutch setup, swap abs modules, compare fuel lines, swap body harnesses, air bag modules, door locks to match your new key, every little thing must be taken into consideration all the way to the tail lights since the taillights harness goes into the trunk up the roof to the rear view mirror back to the side curtain airbags, down the passanger side to under the rear seat to the fuel pump and rear abs sensors back up to the center air bag module then up to the fuse box inside the car which is different as well so you have to swap it and all its connecting harnesses. the story goes on and on and on and on.

Thanks for the link. I read his post and that's way more work than I intend to do. I may have to consider other options.
I had a bad feeling when I read your first post. lol
I'm not sure what I'll do yet but I greatly appreciate everyone's input and support.

I hadn't driven the car in so long I had completely forgotten about my HPTuners account.
I think standalone is going to be the sanest way for me to go as you suggested.
At least it's doable.

I may be getting that one too for another project now that I have an ECM solution. Man I feel sorry for the guy that did it the hard way...lol.
I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the LSJ yet or how bad it is damaged (Valve train interference due to timing chain tensioner mishap).
I received the LNF package this week and am anxious to get the car moving again but Vince is no longer responding to the thread I started over at WOT so I may be back to square one. I'm not going to install the LNF only to find that we can't actually make this work so I may start to disassemble the LSJ soon and see how bad it really is.
Perhaps I'll make an LNF/LSJ Frankenstein or simply sell the LNF package I bought and ship the damn car to ZZP. That's what I should have done in the first place. I don't really have a lot of time for this. The car has been sitting for 18 months as it is. I figure I have about two months to sort this out before I get real busy again in which case the car may sit for another 18 months. lol.
One thing is for certain. I'll have a brand new TVS up on ebay pretty soon for a good deal. After purchasing the SRT-4, the Cobalt will NEED a turbo in order to keep up.

Well, after installing some high lift doors, I fired up the old Yanmar and was able to move the engine into the garage to begin inspecting..(everything weighed in at 725lbs)

It looks pretty clean....I know it doesn't really have any miles on it. You can still see the stickers all over the engine..

Does anyone know if there is a way to tell by this tag if the tranny has a LSD or not? (it probably doesn't because that's the kind of luck that I have but it is something i intend to add)

Cobalt G5 2008, 2009 LNF 5 speed w/ LSD 55564936
from the part number on top of that trans in the pic, it says it is an LSD model, part number match on CED
