is this worth the swap or did u have alot of headaches?
Off course it fits; it's the same engine block...
(LSJ head is better for an SC (re-)build, as it has the M8 inlet studs and SC cams already fitted.)

@Bratboy; good that it runs! But as said, to my info the std LSJ cams are more aggressive than the Saab turbo cams. Here in Europe people actually lost HP by fitting the Saab cams on an SC engine...

*UPDATE*

I made a short video. Tuned at 25degrees on 3.0 E85. Virtual Dyno says 274/233. Pulls pretty hard. LOVE IT!!!! Next plan is Ported Exhaust, TVS, and Cams. But that's a ways out fellaz.

Pull is 2nd gear 40mph to just over 70mph

I would assume it would pass just fine. My only issue that has my check engine light on for is the camshaft position sensor. Getting that fixed soon though. My Tuner has a tool to fix it.

Of course they don't think its interchangeable. I've just proved it is possible. Plus take any part of your motor apart and find the word SAAB engraved in it. GM stole the Ecotec platform from Saab a ways back.

I would say if you did it all at once it would only be an extra 2 hours to swap the few things you need to swap on the motor. Let me know if your going to do it. I can give you some simple tips and what your gotta swap over. Honestly it was well worth saving myslef over $1,000 for a used LSJ. Plus my new motor has only 30k on it rather than 70k was the cheapest used LSJ I could find and still it was nearly $1,800.

He bought the injector harness too so yes they do.

Also it took us more time tearing the old LSJ out than swapping and installing the new one. (We were lazy at first)

I should say, I kept the LSJ's pcm. I did not swap to a saab's pcm. 80's worked fine with injector harness, you'll need to swap to your fuel rail, the saabs is different.

Correct; for the development of the 2.0 LSJ engine, GM simply used all the mechanical parts of the Saab 2.0 turbo engine and put a supercharger on. Some cams and ecm development, job done.
Like he said, your LSJ has SAAB written all over it...

called a junkyard to buy a motor and told em i needed a saab 9-3 turbo b207r. They said the bellhousing and Transmission will not bolt up. I asked how much can i buy it for they refused to sell it to me lol

guess i need to start lieing my ass off.

i had 3 weeks off of work to get my car running i have 1 week left still and no engine. This is so frustrating.

Only reason i haven't just bought it and did it myself cause.1. Already paid my mechanic 1500 for the job to help me.2. I don't possess the right amount of tools or knowledge(my first rebuild).3. Lots of my friends are either too busy or too lazy.

If any cobalt guys are interested in helping me do this build lmk. Im in the chicago area. will not pay it just for the experience

I told the junkyark I had a 2004 Saab 9-3. Manual with the B207R. Only thing to verify is that the flywheel is a 8 bolt, NOT a 6 bolt. If its a manual it should be though. Will have a huge dual mass flywheel with clutch attached unless they took it. Just to prove to them the trans would bolt up, ask if the Saab uses a F35 transmission. It DOES -__-

Good Luck with your rebuild man.

NO MORE NEED FOR ENGINE HOIST. YAY!!! lolz

Next step is plugging everything back in.
Wires, Exhaust, Intake, Drive Axels, ect.

Won't be long at all to complete those few things.

I'm excited as all hell to finally have a running Cobalt and on top of that I'm shooting for 280+whp.

why did u take out the AC compressor did u ever put it back in?

Yea, it was simply blocking me from dropping the motor in from the top down it due to the ac compressors hoses being 90% metal tubing.

We'll the swap is great. Super reliable car still, even on E85.

I'm need some more tuning. when its below 50degree's out, I gotta rev for about 15seconds to help it out due to E85. Otherwise it start up just fine.

Sometime when I go WOT, it just falls on it's face. This is believed to be from a rich condition code the car is throwing sometimes.

Hottest I've seen while sitting in traffic when it was 70degree's out was 216, but my fans never turned on either. I'm going to have my tuner set fans to 70% at 200 degree's I think. But this was how my car was before, so no different in cooling.

Getting some syncro whining in tranns when shifting into second while doing 15+ mph when coming to a stop. We believe this is due to filling the trans to fill plug, but actually I added about 3/4 a bottle more once this sound came up. NO LEAKS. We believe the transmission must be rotated a few times to get the oil lost when it was turned on it's side during install to get true FULL level. Hopefully no serious damage occurred. BTW wow, a gmpp 'uppgraded clutch' is like ON or OFF. I mean you have a feel, but when pressure is released while coasting and getting back into gas, it's like a bomb goes off. Jesus. LOLZ

Finally I've fixed all leaks in Coolant lines and intercooler is finally full. What a pain.
Belt squeaks for some dumb reason.

Once I get some more tuning fixed. I'll get some better and more videos of it running. I'll be at PowerCuise 2012 this year if I don't destroy my car by then. haha

Also if your in MN, every Monday night I try to go to the Ricekiller.com Car Meet in Brooklyn Park.

Thanks,
CSS.NET for all the support.
