stroker motor

has anyone considered getting a forged crank and rods for a 2.2 and swapping them into a 2.0. What kind of issues would have to be dealt with, ie flywheel fitting, etc?

i dont see why if your building the engine how its going to be anymore expensive than replacing the lsj parts

The problem right now is that no one makes a forged crank with a 94.6 stroke. From what I understand, the LSJ/LNF 86mm is the only forged piece out there.
One could get a custom forged crank made, but it would not be cost effective.

Wes was looking at this a while ago, IIRC there are also some other issues. Namely the bolt pattern between the crank and flywheel are different. So you'd have to get a custom flywheel as well.

Fullthrottle ran into this problem over on RLF in his build, I never saw whether or not he got it resolved or not.

i remember he had said something about it but in the same breath he said they are the same block so i was assuming an eagle crank for the 2.2 and forged rods would slip in nicely. as for the flywheel issue I thought that was becasue of the use of the 2.4 block having an entirely different crank. IIRC the GM build book says about swaping an lsj rods into the 2.2 so why wouldnt the reverse work the same

Nah, the issues lies with the flywheel. Since the 2.2 and 2.4 have the same tranny, clutch, and flywheel, the bolt pattern on the crank fits those flywheels. The 2.0 has a completely different tranny, clutch, and flywheel so it doesn't mate up.

The other problem is that because the flywheels are different sizes, you can't even just take a 2.2 or 2.4 flywheel and bolt it up. Last I saw when he was having to do was get a "blank" 2.0 flywheel and grab it before it was drilled, then drill it to the new bolt pattern. I never found out what the resolution on it was.

it was something about 6 vs 8 bolts and he had i think fidanza build him a custom one because he wanted to try a group buy on it.
