Timing Between Engines

Ok so there have been a few threads about people wanting to pair various diferent blocks with diferent heads for example, LE5 Block+LSJ Head or L61 Block+LSJ Head or L61 Block+B207R Head and so on. my question that I have yet to see answered is how does the engine timing change from engine to engine or is it the same for all engines? if not hoe do you go about setting the timing?

the L61 and LSJ use the same parts for the cam sprockets so timing those as a frankenstein is easy
