I use 10:1 Diamonds stock bore size with stock rings. I went up half a point in compression to make up for the loss caused by my cams.

i know that you guys carry them. i already have the 10.5:1 pistons i just don't know if i want to put them on. i would rather go with 9.5:1 or lower if possible.

well the lower you go the better chance you have for predet. but alot of turbo guys go with higher compression. i think.

You're thinking backwards.

Higher compression causes higher heat temperatures because the air/fuel mixture is tighter and causes higher combustion chamber tempatures which MAY lead to pre-ignition happening.

Now, you can run a high compression if you want and be absolutely fine. There are many ways of preventing detonation/pre-ignition. Read this: http://www.ecotecforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4539

Read # 4 on that page specifically.

thanks guys. my only thing is is that i don't want to mess **** up i guess. whatever is the safest. safe as in for the motor. i have been thinking about meth injection for a while. plus there is a sunoco about 15 minutes away. they have the highest octane around "94". what is your take on E85? its about 100 octane. i know there are people using it as a cheap substitute for higher octane. its about 2.35 a gallon here in indy. i also know that you will burn about 25% more of it than if you were just running 93 octane.

... sure it's 100 octane... but it has less energy value per unit volume.
Not worth it at all.

if your cars not made for flex fuel or E85 i highly discourage use as a "cheap" 100 octane. E85 as any alcohol has corrosive properties that can be harmful to most of your fuel components. Also, like omega said it has less energy per volume so your performance would suffer.

right right. i think that i am just gonna find some 10:1 or 9.5:1 pistons just cause. and just run a meth injection kit.

I'd go with 9.5:1 compression if I were you. It all real depends on if you're going all out though. Are you going to do headwork or anything else?
