How does everyone keep their iPod in their cobalts with the plug in the front?

Originally I had the iPod cupholder, but I purchased a hard-shell case for my new ipod, and so it didnt fit into this holder. I sawed off on side, and now the suction cup lets go of the iPod when I take sharp turns. I would just leave it in the cupholder, but when i need to charge it, there is no easy way to have wires hanging out both ends.

Plus, I want to easily access my songs/buttons/playlists.
