2nd Gen CCFL Halo swap to LED Halo?
Can anyone tell me what size the 2nd gen halos are? i've seen the sizes for the 1st gen led halos are 95mm and 105m i think but i need to be sure the size of the halo in my 2nd gens. My drivers side halo's are out and they are gettin power so I think they blew, need to replace them, anyone help me out and tell me the correct size?
update: 7-27-09, i want to swap the CCFL halos out and put in LED Halos. I assume that the conversion is simple with a power wire and negative wire going to the new LED halos. Anyone have any information on this?

Yep, these measurements are from the 2nd gens. It must just be an optical illusion because both halos are the same size: 95mm inside diameter and 110mm outside diameter. I actually had them right up to each other and they are definitely the exact same size. As for replacements... it's kind of a weird size... the 95mm halos I usually get are 105mm outside diameter, but the plastic shells are fatter. I'll post a pic in a bit with the other halo in place and if it works... I'll let you know where to get it from.
As for tips... not any in particular. They open the same way as the stock headlights. Apply heat for a good 5-10 mins with heat gun or hairdryer and pry the lens off with 2 flat head screwdrivers. Unscrew the bezel and unscrew the halo from behind. The bottom of the halos swivel out as there is a tab at the top to hold the tops of the halos in place.
For sealant I recommend a urethane based, marine grade sealant such as PL polyurethane.
ok... just checked, the halos I get from Retro-Solutions do not fit... the inner diameter is just not quite big enough. Although you could either shave them down or just take the inner glass tube from these halos and swap them for the ones that came with the 2nd gens.

Yep, exactly... both are same size, I was just providing both inside and outside diameters as the 2nd gens have specific sized indentations to accommodate only that size of halo.
You could try getting a 100 ID 110 OD halo, but then you run the risk of having it being slightly bigger and not fitting due to slight variances. Me personally... I would get the 95 ID 105 OD and just swap the glass tubes and re-use the stock protective coverings to ensure proper fitment... however they are very fragile and you run the risk of breaking them. So either way you take a risk.
