35w vs. 55w. pics:
I have the pics up in my paint thread, but thought it was a pretty good refrence for people who want to see pics of 35w ballasts vs. 55w. Ballasts. Sorry I didnt get better pics, im sure people would want to see difference on the ground and things, but this is better then nothing. I know when I was buying these ballasts I had trouble getting any real information about 55w ballasts. Seems like no1 has them, but im glad i chose them
These are 12k Bulbs. The 35W ballast is from 3B spec while the 55W kit is from DDM
35W top, 55W Bottom

35W

55W

Wound up with 12K 55W in my headlights, 8K 35w in my fogs. They color match pretty close, so expect that amount of K drop with the 55w. My camera really didnt show the blue in the lights well, but they really are a sky blue when driving. Im SUPER happy with the result and im not used to this much light at night. you NEED relays, right now I dont have them and my driver side light is flickering, had to flip my headlights on and off once or twice to get it to stop.

sick man. i was trying to decide what wattage to go with, sold on 55W now.
pretty good looking light for aftermarket projectors too (cutoff n whatnot).
have you noticed any problems with the headlights like cracks or anything?

There 3rd Gen headlights and I did the anti-glare mod like 3B spec does, there a How-to on this site if you wanna do it, it makes it have a sharper cutoff with no surrounding glare. Every aftermarket light gets stress cracks, these included, so I put OEM lenses on to fix that problem

yea i got a relay kit, didnt hook it up yet but then again i havent been in my car for the past 3 weeks
try searching "3rd Gen" or "Gen" or "headlights" in the advanced search and specify it to the "how to" section. Just play around with it, but if you cant find it, heres a quick summery:
Remove the low beam bulb, look in there and you will see a phillips head screw, get a screwdriver in there and loosen it, the shield will start to spin so you need to put something else in there to hold it while you loosen it, a coat hanger works well, or flathead or pen or something. Then you just need to fill the hole left in the cutoff shield, i used the screw that i took out covered in high temp silicone, just gobbed it on the screw, pushed it back in the hole, put the headlight upside down while it dried. Tada. your done. Takes all of 20 minutes. The How-to has nice pics
