63_nova: any luck on finding the hood elsewhere?

I don't know how your photobucket settings are, but for me, that picture you "shared" in post #9 didn't work - it was a generic photobucket-kitten picture that linked to your cobalt picture folder in your pb account.
I simply used the link, and then shared a great picture of your car to share so that everyone could see it

well, in reality, there was 2 shapes

93-97 (96, 97 being ss years)
98-02 (ss available every year)

but very similar hood scoop wise. diff air induction into the intake between, 93-97 had it mid engine, as 98-02 had it front of engine under the lid

That sounds correct - and I found a source to back it up;

History of the Chevrolet Camaro Engines: 4th gen Brings Big Power - Torque News

I am traditionally a Pontiac guy;
I know for a fact that the WS6 package was re-introduced for the '96 model year on Formulas & Trans Am's - and that SLP did the conversions;
I do recall that SLP was no longer doing them for the 1998 model refresh - which also coincidentally happened when the LT1 was replaced by the LS1.

It's a totally different engine and what not in the 98-02 cars just about everything is different about them with the exception of a few things. My point was the hood design started in 96 not in 98

yes, cus slp re-started the ss in 96. but the hood would retro fit 93-97s

and everything is different? just the tranny, engine and front fenders/bumpers/hood

75% of the car is the same.

FBP3K - that is a great hood;
You can come by my house any time to drop it off when you've gotten bored of it

- just think, you can drive back home with that cool hot rodder "hey look I have no hood" look.

Vis still makes the hood and they only have 1 in stock. It's not shown for a cobalt, only G5 Pontiac. It looks like their version may be a little taller and longer scoop but same shape. I was going to let dipped cobalt get the only one made currently and I will put in an order for the next available.

Stingray hood doesn't look as good as the one they photo shopped. Little to tall and busy for me. It will look better than the stock one.

I did that when the hood was getting recleared. I found out our intakes and BPV are extremely loud with nothing blocking the sound haha.
