Aftermarket Steering Wheel

Does anyone know if an aftermarket steering wheel can be installed in the Balt. I just want to know what all would be needed to install one and would the airbag still work or would it have to be disconnected?

Here's a link to the ones I was looking at: http://www.gravanatuning.com/applica...Steering_Wheel

your airbag will not work because it's attached to your stock steering wheel. you can install an AF steering wheel on any car.

So there is no way to make the airbag work on an aftermarket steering wheel?

Nope, no airbag, who needs them! All you need is the steering wheel of your choice, and the hub adapter.

some of you need to check your state laws also, Last I heard (in my state) it's illegal to remove a safety feature, as in Airbag, from a vehicle that originally had it and still drive the car ont he road or pass testing if you have to do that....

I haven't looked it up so i could be wrong, but something you might want to check before you do that. If you have a older car without the Air bag, no problem though...

well if its not that much of a pain in the ass you could just reinstall your stock wheel before inspection. but i have never swapped out a steering wheel b4 ive only removed one in order to fix a horn, and it was on an 80's pickup

BIG difference! I wouldnt recommend taking your stock steering wheel off by yourself, you have a great chance of getting a face full of airbag! Its only goin to be abot $75 dollars to have the aftermarket steering wheel installed.

how about if we used a sport steering wheel that has an air bag from the factory.. i know two of them and i'm pretty sure they won't fit just giving idea's. The Evo steering wheel is nice and still has an airbag (MOMO) and i think the JDM Integra Type R a nice small 3 spoke steering wheel with an airbag.

well i just bought a new steering wheel for my balt but im not sure what kind of hub adapter i need. i found one from sparco. its the one that fits the neon and the viper and the wrangler. i found it on everything***********. but its kinda expensive at almost 70 bucks. does anyone know what other kind of hub adapter i could use that is not so expensive

has anyone even changed their steering wheel. well the only reason im changin it is cuz i my airbag blew already and i dont feel like replacing it so im just goin to replace the wheel. less expensive and it will look better. what kind of hub do i need. or should i just go with the sparco hub.

as far as I know, you can't legally replace the steering wheel and drive it on the road. atleast not with a steering wheel without an airbag....
