haha, I am modifying my antenna today hopefully I don't end up having your same problem. Atleast the new antenna was to expensive but needless to say it was money that you shouldn't of had to spend lol
I had the smae exact problem man. I tried everything. i found a trick to it. i'll take pics when i get outa class later. or i'll pm you. pretty much you need a small and large version of the tool, lubricating oil, and some good 'ol elbow greese. after i did this i came right off.

well, when i did mine, i stripped the bottom of the antenna (i cut mine). Also, I broke the housing thats inside the trunk, bc the antenna wouldn't budge n i tried rocking it back n forth with vice grips. sucks.
I've run into Cobalts that you could NOT get the darn antenna off. My 2 Cobalt's antennas came off easy and I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it.
At the CED car show last July THREE of us tried to remove an antenna off an LS, even holding it inside the trunk AFTER spinning the assembly off the mounting bracket! We ended up tie strapping it to the mounting bracket without removing the darn antenna!!!

first off, this is my first post! wow! okay now that that's out of the way, i realize this is an old post, but i'm having the EXACT same problem. i broke mine off the bracket. now when you say lubrication are we talking KY or what? jk. no but what's the best way to get it off? i guess i should tell you all Mine is an LS as well lol.
i just got a new antenna in today...mine did the same thing. i ended up scratching the **** out of my rubber base and antenna so im going to the dealer on monday to get them to replace it. i think they should do it for free...its not my problem that the thing came loose and i cant remove anything without scratching the **** of it the base/antenna. did you get it fixed? how much?
Yeah I ended up getting it fixed. The total cost to replace the antenna was $114. But the service guy was a ******* retard and replaced it with a 07 7mm antenna instead of a 6mm antenna so I had to sell my Ark antenna and still havent been able buy a new one. If you have a 05-06 cobalt Id make sure you tell them to get a 6mm antenna.
