Backseat delete ideas

Has anyone fully removed the back seat from their Cobalt? I'm looking for some ideas on how to finish the back floor and possibly block off the trunk area without adding a bunch of weight to the car. Also, does anyone know if the rear seatbelts can easily be removed from where they spool up under the rear decklid? It was getting late last night so I didn't really take a look at it. Ideas, suggestions and/or pics of any custom work would be awesome!

The seatbelts are just bolted in, if I were you, I'd contact someone who does fiberglass work, it's not going to be cheap though...

Yeah the seatbelts are bolted in at the bottom, that much I can see considering I've already removed my upper and lower seats. I mean up at the top, where they coil up inside of the rear deck lid. I will take a look at them tonight if I can, and maybe send BadG1rl a pm.

Fiberglass isn't really what I had in mind, but it's a good idea nonetheless. If I ask around on the local boards I might be able to find someone who does it in their spare time who will help me with this project for a fair price. Thanks for the suggestion. I was also thinking about aluminum diamond plate though. Any thoughts on that?

For the area where the seat backs were you could have a fiberglass panel made and have it hold subs and an amp or something and make it into a real nice looking system that you can see when you look in the back. As for the floor, I have no ideas. Good luck though and if you do anything be sure to post pictures.

I saw a Mach 1 that had a rear seat delete kit. On the bottom, it was just thin fiberboard covered in material similar to the trunk mat. The back was the same material and secured to the rear deck with a couple of push tabs. looked good, I didn't even notice it until he said he had a rear seat delete kit. Also, a lot cheaper than fiberglass.

Just take out the rear deck itself...it bends a little bit so you can get it in and out but doesn't hurt it.
Once you get it out you can take out the seatbelts and everything.
Then go to hobby lobby and find some material to cover the rear deck completely so the holes where the seatbelts came through can't be seen.
Then staple the material to the deck, duct tape it, whatever you want to do and then just put the rear deck back in.

As far as where the back seat was....idk what to tell you...i'm in the process of customizing where mine was.
I'm also trying to figure out how i want to seperate the trunk from the cabin too. Got ideas...just haven't started.

Gettin a camera friday if you want pics of the deck.
