black bowties

I'm interested in putting black bowties on my cobalt and I was wondering if there was anyone who I can pay to paint them professionally for me. I really don't know much about painting and I'm not sure if I have to use some kind of protective coat or what.

MMmmm.... Black bowtie!

All I did was remove the 2 bolts, tape off the chrome and painted it with VHT Nightshade....

I took it off, and sanded it with first dry then wet sand paper, then i took a flat black rattle can and a rattle can of clear coat and this is the result.

It's the easiest mod you can do. Just remember the quality of the finish is all in the prep work so approach it like you would if you were going to actually paint the car. Also don't forget the clear!

The clear over flat black gives a nice semi-flat finish! Great job!

Another approach is to use Krylon semi-flat black. It goes on nice and gives a non-glossy (but not rough) finish.

Try Autozone. They have DupliColor and High Temp paints, that will get you in the right direction.

I just put vinyl over it and then cut it leaving the chrome edges. That way if you ever change your mind you can take it off.

I just used some left over number plate vinyl from my dirt bike. I don't know if that is the best vinyl to used but it worked. The only thing is that I couldn't quite get the vinyl pefectly into the corners of the bow tie, but you can't notice it unless you put your face to it.
