Black Headlights!

ok, i noticed that one of the members has black head lights, i msg him, but he has yet to respond.
wondering how many people did their own head lights, my friend and i took the orange markers out of her Del Sol's headlights, we just shoved them into the oven and then pulled them apart..

wondering if anyone has done this to their cobalt headlights..
if you have another (safer) meathod, please do tell.. cause i LOVE LOVE LOVE the blackened look on the cobalt lights.. thanks!

Him and I are doing this for people for $130 shipped. However, you'll need to ship your headlights to us, we'll do them, and send them back.

Please PM me for more information

Thats the same way everyone is doing the cobalt headlights, there are no aftermarket ones available and the oven does just fine

i wanted to do it myself.. since i am really poor. (student with a new car.. )
i guess i would be even more poor if i destroyed them and had to buy new ones..
would you be willing to tell me how to do it?
or are you strictly just doing it yourself??
i would appreciate the lesson..

I did mine to match my SS/SC body color, Rally Yellow. A link to the pics is in my sig, check them out. To get mine done, I heated the oven to 190 degrees, baked them for 10 min to soften the adhesive, then to help get them off, I used a blowdryer to soften the spot I was prying at that moment, it's easier to start at the pointed end of the headlight - more area to grip. After you get the spot going, it's cake from there. Also, heat up the tabs that secure the lens to the housing, bend them back carefully to allow removal. DO NOT BREAK THEM OFF! They are essential to getting the headlight back on tightly.
I needed a second person w/ me to help start the lens. Be careful to get alladhesive off of the crhrome NOW. you can heat and pick away at the adhesive on the gray housing and the lens later. After cleaning up the sealant, You can take off the chrome bezel by three lil hex screws in the back where the lights wire in at. CAREFULLY pop off the square amber lens, and leave the amber circle lens on if you are cleairng the turnsignal. You can then lightly sand, primer, and spary the bezels. Use high temp paint. Reverse the process, use Permatex Clear Sealant (got mine from Autozone, 2 tubes, one per light) on the track around the gray housing for the adhesive, be generous, attach the lens quickly, press securely and use the tabs to "click" it in place. I then used the left over adhesive to put a bead around the seal and smoothed it w/ my finger, that prevents any breaks in sealant causing fog up. If you need help taking off the lights, PM me, but they are simple. Use a 10mm socket wrench, take off the 2 screws, and be careful to remove the light. Takes effort tho. Some ppl say using tape on the edges of the body near the light keep scratches off. Good luck!

i broke all my "tabs" that hold the lens on, it doesnt matter as long as you seal it back up correctly

No need to put them in the oven!! You can just pry them apart very slowly or use a hair dryer.

I took my gauge cluster apart in my ion, I had half of the cluster carbon fibered, and the other half painted..when I put them back together, I had to use super glue, then I used super glue to put the lexan face back on. I forgot about the rules of super glue and I sealed the cluster and reinstalled it. The next morning I went outside to move my car only to find that my fingerprints were all over the inside of the cluster. The fumes from the super glue made my fingerprints appear everywhere inside the cluster. I couldn't believe I had forgotten about that. Is the permatex going to do the same thing?? Also, if I take my cluster apart again, can I take a wet cloth and wipe the fingerprints off, or are they on there for good now???
