Black Interior Panels
No pics yet
I'm sorry, I have no pics yet. I actually read the thread and got motived and re-started my interior. I got the 2 side panels on the dash sanded n painted n it looks like i fiberglassed it. honestly for the time and effort to sand them down, then prime them, west sand it after each coat and paint it then clear coat it, it looks worth it.
okay...i guess i fell behind
wheni first joined the forum last summer there were a few threads on suede insterts including a how to, but this is the best i could find thats still around...sorry if it doesnt help much, but atleast youll know who's done it before
https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/show...ighlight=suede
as for paint chipping, thats why im clear coating...im putting a SHITLOAD of clear coat on the bottom pieves by the door (a full can) and another full can split amongst the door panels and the piece below the steering wheel. I actually finished em and theyre currently in the garage drying. ill tell you how scratch resistant they are soon, but i brushed em against a doorway pretty hard and didnt get any scrapes, so its looking good
finally, as for starting in the front and working back, its actually better to do it the other way around....a lot of the pieces in the back have to be removed in order since they overlap. In order of first to remove to last to remove: pieces by bottom of doors, pieces the seatbelt connects to (i need help with the seatbelts btw...i swear they're torqued to like 300 ft=lb)the piece below the seatbelt/above the bottom of the door, and thats as far back as i got since i was limited by the damn seatbelt

but i couldnt stand how it was all like shiny and everything. it just didn't look good. So instead i used krylon fusion ultra flat black and now it looks perfect

i started a thread today. i did my color inserts red. look for the thread "5k no. color inserts and black interior
" . that would be me.
the only downside ive seen so far, is it seems to be static-ish or something...dust seems to stick, and is def more noticeable...then again, i havent cleaned my interior since i first did it
Why is everyone keeping their trim around there door handles and door cups gray? Sorry but IMO it doesnt look that good.
I have been thinkin about redoing my door handle in black chrome instead of the silver chrome...
later

I did my headliner in black suede. I dyed the strip around the sunroof black. I also painted all my pillars and other plastic pieces with some black satin paint. I'm still working on the visors but it should all be done soon. I'm gonna get the mesh in the Recaros done with suede as well as the door inserts. My dash is already body color black. It's really dark in my car now, I'm gonna have to do some interior lighting soon.
