This is the most selfish **** I have read on here in a long time. Theres a reason its illegal, It blinds everybody and belive it or not it is putting you in danger also. Ever think that maybe some night in the rain a big rig might round the corner, get blinded by your cars eye piercing lights, cross the centerline and hit you head on? Or what if he misses you altogether and hits the car behind you? That could be my mom,my sister and my nephew,my dad or some of my friends and there family. My step sister died in a car wreck because a teenage girl droped a cd in her passenger floor board and crossed the centerline trying to get it. Something we have all done and prolly will do agian but guess what? Theres not a law saying you cant pick up a cd while your in a car. The is a law saying aftermarket HID are illegal. At least put them in projectors. I pray you dont kill anybody on your way to what ever it is that makes you so much more important than everybody else.

Well excuuuuuuuuse me. I was giving a helpful input. I suggested not getting HID's and instead buying higher output normal bulbs. Did I not? I told him several kinds to look into, and even a place to buy them and a price. Once again, did I not? All I said was that I'm not going to run horrible lights, just for everyone else on the road. I drive in back woods areas with no street lights at all. Deer everywhere. I'm not going to hit a deer over your whiney ass complaining about glare. I've seen plenty of non-HID bulbs giving just as much glare as HID kits. Many factory cars come with HID's in NON-projector headlight housings. Did you know that? Doubt it. Don't take what I said and get it twisted. I have more of a problem with people in big jacked up trucks having their lights shining right into my rear window and directly into my rear-view mirror. THAT is much more of a problem. You should be able to relate to that, being from Arkansas. That should make sense. Now something like dropping a CD and getting it causing a wreck, yes, that's ridiculous. That's not what I did here. As a matter of fact, I didn't do anything. So you're getting on me, why? It's a simple fact that when you are driving, you're out to protect your own ass. Does that not make sense? You want to get where you're going, safely. So how am I the ******* here? I stated a simple fact. I have factory bulbs right now, so don't even start. I was making a simple suggestion, but no, I'm sure you didn't read any of those seeing as how that was your first post in the thread. Thanks for the help.

Let me put it this way anything you do to your car except cleaning it can be "illegal"

Did I know that many cars come from the factory with non-projector HID headlights? -Yes

There were many...and the they were all designed to be used with HID lighting. They didnt throw them into a normal housing.

You said you would buy projectors for the cobalt but they look like poop. Then you pretty much said if somebody cant see because of HIDs in factory housings to bad.

I saw where you mentioned the normal lights....and at the end you said if somebody cant see from the glare of HID lights BOO WHOO

In Arkansas I see more riced out cars with blinding lights than jacked up trucks but yes they need to aim there lights down.

Are you and *******?? Prolly not but are you making it sound ok to put HIDs in factory housings not designed for it? Yes

Let's just take a step back here. I have no problem with you, and you don't outrightly have a problem with me. All I'm saying is that people always whine about HID this, HID that.. Why not just stop making HID's altogether? Period. No factory, no aftermarket. I see glare in factory HID's as well.. Some more than others.. Honestly, I could see perfectly fine with my Xenon OEM style bulbs, and the Hyper-White style looks just like HID's anyway.. That's what I'd suggest doing. You can replace your 9007's and H11's both for like $40, excluding shipping, as opposed to like $120 for a set of HID's.. The only thing you will NEED to eventually do is replace the bulb sockets with high-output ones.. Eventually your factory ones will fry, and you'll have to drive home sans-headlights like I did. Not fun. Do yourself a favor and get those also. Install is like 5 additional minutes. I had to remove my assemblies so many times one day I can now do it in record time.. lol. Regardless, no, I am not advising HID's in any form. I think they look fantastic on Mercedes and such, however they do pose a problem in non-factory equipped vehicles. Having that said, this is America, and you can basically do whatever the hell you want until you get caught. Use HID's or OEM style bulbs, that's your call for your car. It doesn't matter to me one way or another. I'm just making some suggestions.. lol. I liked my Silverstars, but they don't make H11's.. I liked my Luminics, but they burn out very quickly.. The Nokya bulbs look great and last awhile.. That'd be my suggestion.. A set of 9007's, a set of H11's, and a few sets of HD sockets will run you like $50 plus shipping. This will be more than sufficient, and still mostly legal. My .02.

Whoa whoa guys, calm down now. This is why HID's in a reflector housing is illegal(other than housings specifically designed for HID's)

https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/appearance-48/hids-what-you-should-know-before-you-buy-94774/

Extremely informative thread by Omega. That explains to you the difference between projector and reflector and the differences in Kelvin ratings in HID's.

The OP is wanting just regular halogen bulbs that give off a faint blue color. Although I say he should go with Sylvania Silverstars myself. They're a much better quality light bulb.

Please do take some time to read through that thread I posted.

Exactly. Nothing wrong with the Silverstars, as I had used them. However, the Nokyas and the Luminics will produce more of the blue tint he is looking for. The Hyper White versions will be exactly that, similar to a 6k HID. Everyone would tell me mine looked like HID's. I really just went with the company that made H11's as well. lol. My fogs HAVE to match my mains..

I was looking at those, but very costly for a standard bulb.. They don't make H11's in those do they?

In no way do I have a problem with you man. I really dont have a problem with HIDs or the aftermarket kits either as longs as they are put in projectors or a retrofit is done.

If you want a really nice bright halogen light with a hint of blue try the Philips Crystal Vision Ultra. They are a very nice light with decent output. The best thing is these lights project white light instead of blue and they are legal! I've had 2 set, one for my Cavalier and 1 for the cobalt before I swapped over to HID's. They are a very durable light as well!

Oh, here is the law for lights in NB from the Motor Vehicle Act... just for reference!

209(1)Every motor vehicle other than a motorcycle or motor-driven cycle shall be equipped with at least two head lamps displaying white lights with at least one on each side of the front of the motor vehicle, which head lamps shall comply with the requirements and limitations set forth in this Part.

I had Silverstars in the Cobalt before I bought my Crystal Visions... I installed them on a Friday night and returned them the next day as I was very unsatisfied with them compared the other bulbs.
