Just for ***** and giggles... how much does it cost approximately to get a body kit installed? I've been contemplating it for a while now...

it really depends if they mold it on or just bolt it on and also paint price will vary depending on whether the whole car is being painted a custom color or if the kits being sprayed and then put on,...just some advice...u get what you pay for so cheaper is not always better.

For a good install and paint job (whole car, molded) youre probably looking at 4500-5k easy but ive seen lower end jobs in the 1000 dollar range...they dont come out lookin so great though,

When i had my celica i had a bodykit installed on it, for paint and install alone, bolted on it was 1200. Great job too, i have never seen a 4k just for paint and install of a bodykit.

Well I'm thinking about the Razzi kit, just because I like the dual exhaust look on the rear... so I don't know much about what I'm getting myself into here...

I had my RK Sport professionally painted and installed for about $600 and they did a great job.

 

what i mean by the 4500 is a complete car paint job, door jams and custom color...of course having the front rear and sides alone wouls probably run 800-1400 depending on fitment...the more body work and time the more money.....cheaper body shops will take a kit straight from shipment , prime it and paint it....a good body shop will know that fiberglass kits have a natural waveyness that needs to be blocked down / lightly puttied and sanded snooth.....this is for a factory finish which is how it SHOULD be done on a brand new car,....i would not want to spend even 500 bucks risking a job on a brand new vehicle that might wind up making the car look old and used.

So be careful with who you go with....especially with body work...the less the car will cost you..the more short cuts a body shop will take.... there are a lot of corners thay can be cut that shouldnt be and then people get their cars back with miss alignments and sagging...and corners not lining up.
You have a 20.000 dollar car, to spend 500 on a kit install in my opinion is not a good idea.... buyer beware, check out other cars they have done and price ranges and also any shop can offer a cheap price on a cheap job but its hard to find a good quality shop that knows how to do factory/show car finishes...

like gsoccer said....a car might look good to one person....but parked next to a true good quality paint job, the quality will be evident...
ive been to a lot of shows and have been doing the car show scene for a while now and i have seen the best and the worst paint jobs...

definately do research before you commit to anything....especially on a car you will have for a few years and/or are still making a payment on.

with all that said...definately take badgirls advice and do research...check out the body shops you plan on going to. They should have pictures of their work (tons). Shop around and make them earn your business. Flashy shops aren't always better....
One thing to think about is learning what goes into putting on a body kit or even doing simple body work. See if the shop will let you help out. You can do sanding work, there is lots of it and you can see the entire process and what is involved. Besides learning what goes into it, you'll also have a sense of pride knowing you worked on it.

 

Yea i just had my kit painted, and installed nothing else, for 1200, was a great job, you should see the other cars they did, the shop does a great job.
