Exterior lighting is only ricer if its overdone and of poor quality, ex. a guy with led's covering every inch possible with wires hanging everywhere and acting like its badass. OH WOW! Most of the outside world is more ignorant than you would like to think. For instance, here in germany, a lot of germans refer to the way we talk as "American". Like, "I don't speak American." It's English, not American, ENGLISH. And they often say a lot of Americans are dumb ass Yankees. I'm not from the North, I'm a southerner, I'm not a ******* yankee. I talk slow with a certain twang from the deep south. That doesn't make me stupid, that just illustrates where I'm from and who I am.

Most people refer to calling things ricer because of the huge surge of JDM bullshit with mostly Hondas but also many other asian cars. Most everything that looks somewhat tacky and in most people's opinion, "gay" or "retarded", it referred to as rice. Rice is a term that's easily used since during the pacific wars, it was observed that there is a lot of rice patties in the far east of asia.

So when someone says, "that's rice". Or "check out that ricer burner". They are often just referring to their opinion of something that they don't like.

I personally think that this mod was kind of cool and is actually something original that I have not seen done on any Cobalt. It would be something cool for car shows at night.

 

No it's not bad. Germans are actually extremely nice and will go out of their way to do something for you if you are a neighbor.

Thats cool, us navy boys don't really get to go anywhere that doesn't have a lot of water around it. Unless you're on a "small boy" like a cruiser, destroyer, or friget. I've only been on carriers and big deck amphibious ships

 

What kind of lights are they? My dad's assistant fire chief for the local fire dept. here and he just has small strobe lights in his headlights and tail lights. Along with a couple lights on his brush guard and a light bar on the roof.

Exterior lighting is all ricer if its stupid and serves no purpose. This is one of those cases. I purchased my car before even knowing it was Motor Trend car of the year. I even went out and looked at and test drove Cobalts, as if I haven't driven enough friends not to know what one drove like. I also test drove this Fusion. Fusion is way better car in terms of fit and finish, materials used, and quality. I'm not a "cocky ************." I tell the ******* truth. I don't sugar coat **** like half the people on this site. eg. "I don't like what you did but I can appreciate the work you did." Thats a bullshit line. If you don't like the car, you could careless about the work that went into it. A lot of my friends started off into ricer **** but they have all changed there ways into respectable car enthuthiast that know what style is.

 

wasnt it motortrend that said the cobalt wouldnt develop a cult following...some people are on their 3rd or 4th cobalts, and as for fit and finish, i wont argue that point except to say i have driven the new malibus and its hard to find anything that stands out of place. but i have not driven a fusion yet

The term Ricer is an opinion PERIOD!!! It seems more of a retarded racist term to me, or someone has been copying terms they've heard from friends, but the word RICER is in fact an OPINION and as we all know opinions are like ********, everyone has got one.
