Brembo Brakes Repainted - how to
A fellow member requested that I throw up some pictures of my Brake Repaint Job. Without going in to great detail, here is the basic process.
1. Clean the Calipers really good. Use Brake Cleaner first, then Soap and Water with a brush, then a little more brake cleaner. Make sure everything is dry. Blue shop towels are the best!
2. Prepare for painting. Cover everything up. See the pics.
3. Use high-heat Ceramic paint (min 550 degrees)... When spraying, go slow or the paint will bunch up and run. Wait 5-10mins between coats (4 coats min). Using a hairdryer speeds this up and also helps even coverage.
4. Once paint is dry to the touch and does not feel soft, apply your Brembo vinyl decal. Make sure no air bubbles persist. (take it easy, or you will regret it)
5. You will now seal the decal in, by spraying 3-4 coats of Ceramic Clear. Def. use a hairdyer and go slow. Note: Ceramic clear has a tendency to turn white if sprayed to liberally or to fast. An even coat will also produce white dust after it has dried. This can be wiped off easily, so be patient.
I used 650 degree Black Pearl Ceramic paint for my calipers. I did not list in instructions, but also painted my hubs and rear brakes. I recommend doing this for a cleaner appearance.
Clean and Ready for paint:
Hub was painted before caliper and don't worry about getting paint on the rotor.

Thanks guys, this is the 3rd set I have done and it holds up very well. My first set is still looking great, at nearly 3 years old, still fb friends with the guy who bought my 08 cobalt. I also AutoX, and this method holds to that punishment as well.
BigO, the decal can be bought on ebay, the size is: 5 inch 12.6cm decals
EvilBannan, I used the spray can form, very easy to apply but their is a technique to it.
damastah, Ceramic paint is funny in this respect. I have never had to do any type of sanding, unless you screw up a spot.
I used VHT Engine paint, any ceramic clear will work: http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/web...int_10193416-p

subd!
they look great. its kind of a hard choice picking a color.
i saw you post this on the sedan FB group,or maybe it was just the pictures. i stopped by a oriley auto and they had maybe 10 different colors, now i have to figure out which color i want to do.
looks pretty straight forward.
ive always thought that you would need to scuff the paint with a maroon scotch bright pad, then paint.
EDIT: did you paint your rotors? or did you do a brake job afterwards?

subd for possibly making this a weekend job. Love the way it came out. I saw a g27 with some gold/bronze brembo's all the way around and i loved it. Wonder how that would look on a SRTC TC. hmmmmmmm

I've been thinking of gold on srtc myself. Not sure how it would look with gunmetal wheels though (when I paint them). Thinking it may be too many colours.
