Buying experience with JM Auto Racing

I inquired about their vis hood sale. Asked about an oem and an invader. Long story short, I was quoted 469 for the invader and 150 for shipping. A couple pms went back and forth until a sales rep contacted me. Gives me a completely different price and tells me it was a typo. Finally gets the price to 682 shipped , which I already had this price with MC's garage, like he's doing me a favor. My car is in the body shop and I'm in a position where I HAVE to buy a hood. When I get the invoice, they bumped shipping up to 169.

I called them because now I'm pissed. They jerk me around and tell me shipping changes everyday. Horse ****! Then they tell me its coming from new York when the sales rep had to call vis to make sure the hood was in stock. I told them they were full of **** and hung up.

This is what I get;

"Re: hood
Are you kidding me.... your going to sit there and bad mouth us? There was a typo and if you want to get technical according to our terms and conditions, we are not to be held responsible for any typographical errors.

Secondly, you paid $682 plus you wanted to go with the extra insurance. If there was such a problem, why didn't you say anything when you were on the phone. YOu had to wait til you got back on the forums when our sales rep was more than helpful to you. It was an easy decision to make to either not purchase it or purchase it. We don't get offended by shopping elsewhere.
Google seach the hood... the MSRP was raised September 1st to $890 from $800. We have not updated our pricing to reflect the increase so we are eating that increase not our customers.

Thirdly, you purchased from an authorized reseller. AA place you can actually call all the time , 15 hours a day in case of a problem. If something happens to your hood, what do you think is going to happen talking to an ebay seller. I bet you I know the response you get. Email Message " Thank you for your inquiry, Please allow 24-48 hours for us to respond back to you." I am sure that would **** you off pretty bad.

As my rep stated, this hood is normally $569 plus shipping and you paid $519. It really boggles my mind to know we have someone complaining over $50 discount. $50 is less than we actually make on the hood. Because someone replied back with a typographical error, we ate the difference and gave you the hood at cost. AND my rep even gave you a discount on a G5 hood for $499 shipped!!! This stuff isn't cheap but he did you a favor. Companies make typographical errors all the time and everytime you go into supermarkets you see signs showing that the following price in the circular is mis printed. We are all human."

And it's unfortunate, but typographical errors can be expensive... That's what you pay for a good rep who has typing skills. Also weights and measures would say otherwise if it were posted on the site for the listed price...
Can't say I like his attitude in the email. Did he eat some money in this? yes? should you appreciate that? yes... But overall man that's shitty...

The illusion is he ate $25 on it But tacked $19 onto shipping. They "ate" 6 bucks. My motive is I don't wish anyone to be treated this way so please beware. I bought the hood because my cars in the body shop and needs a hood asap. This isn't just about the money. It's about the way they conduct business.

Ha I bought a CF hood online from VIS and it took me 6 weeks of getting the run around to finally tell them to give me my money back... They said they shipped it out and it got lost... HOW DO YOU LOSE A ******* HOOD!?! Then they had to wait for the company to make more because that was the last one. I was told it would take 2 weeks, eventually 4 weeks go by and I call them again and they say it's going to take 2 weeks to make more...
I see what your doing... Money please.

shipping rates are good for 30 days at my work and we ship all over the world as for extra insurance it is truck freight and shouldnt be any extra insurance depening on the freight carrier

and sometimes going through the company directly is cheaper and sometimes its more expensive but you also build a relationship with them like i have and its a good thing trust me...

I always thought freight shipping for hoods was an estimate, and was typically done delivery-collect?

Call the freight company they use and get a quote otherwise you won't know for sure how much it costs. Selling the part for cost and making the profit off shipping and handling is a typical ebay trick, it's funny they would bring up ebay. It sounds to me though that they did not bother to really know what their price should be until they got your order but I'm sure for every 1 real buyer they give out quotes to 50 people.

most companies would include a line "prices are subject to change without notice, or prices are good for set period of time" and being a company in the car modifications they should be used to it since ppl like to shop (i'm guilty of it)

Sorry brotha. I wish we could have had an opportunity to earn your business. I rather tell you the truth about our inventory then string you around for months. I've been in your shoes, car in the shop. Needed aftermarket parts. Didn't see my car for 3.5 months because the kit was never really in stock. Sigh. Either way I say you roll hoodless haha wait till October!!

I think you should give the company a little more lee way..
It was an honest mistake.

You would still be getting it cheaper than normal
I say take the price given and run with it.

JM is a good company, maybe not the most professional in that e-mail, but we're all human.

I know man. You were extremely courteous to me. I already purchased the vis hood though. Shoulda waited.

FYI... VIS pulled the invader 2 hoods for quality reasons. I actually went with a g speed hood. Been dealing with Fred @ VIS about my hood.
