Changing fog light bulbs to HID's
Changing fog light bulbs to HID's
I want to change my fog lights to hids and i don't know how to properly access the fog lights. i was reading that you have to take out the headlights to get at them, i did that and on the passenger side there is part of the air manifold blocking the fog light. could anyone help me, im on a 2.4l ss sedan 2006.

i try taking out the fender liner (without raising the car, and stock height
Just remove the headlight and brackets. And if you still can't get to it just jack up the side the intakes on and remove the fender liner
I was thinking about getting 3000k hid for the fog lights and 6000k for my headlights. Do you think that 3000k will look too JDM for my cobalt or is it just a personal preference.
Why did Chevy make it such a bitch to replace bulbs on this platform? My HHR is the same way. I had to remove the entire front bumper to get my new black depos installed. While I had it apart I went ahead and did my hids in the fogs...3k in yellow. Came out pretty nice I think...
I have 15000k HIDs in my Low Beam Projectors and Fogs. I like the blue :P .. I have ccfl rings around headlights and fogs. so its pretty nice..High beams are 8000k . but definately go with removing the headlights and brackets. Its way easier
I had white 5000–6000K range headlights and fog lights, decided to test out all white combo (always done 5000–6000K headlights with 3000K fogs on all other cars), didn't like it as much as I thought I would. Ordered some 3000K yellow H11s for the fogs from DDM... They finally arrived.
Here's a shot of one "before" (white fogs), and "after".... I know that a few of you prefer matched up look, but up here in Oregon and Washington I prefer functional fogs over matched up look.... And maybe now it's considered "JDM", but IIRC, European cars started using amber/yellow fog lights for better foul weather performance.

Here's a shot of the headlights output, headlights with fogs, and just fogs:

Thanks! I just bought some slightly used IPCW clear tails that I'm thinking about taking apart and retrofitting into my stock housings and then slightly smoking those with either niteshades, rustoleum lens tint, or black paint mixed with clear...
Also, I should be ordering my GM stage 1 kit next week... More power while staying under warranty!!
Anyways, back on topic, I think HID 3000K fogs are very functional, especially up here in NW!

i did mine by laying on the ground taking out the 7mm bolts the bottom of the inner fender plastic pulled the bumper out a tad and front part of the inner fender droped reached up changed the bulb both sides done in 10 mins
Remove the headlights and reach down is the quickest way.
