Clearing Carbon Fiber

So my body guy has no experience with carbon fiber and hes afraid sanding it will leave scratches. Is he just supposed to use high grit to keep from it staying scratched for clear coat?

i use 1000 grit sand paper wet and a grey scuff pad. if your honestly worried about it use a light abrasive. i usually put 2 coats of clear, bake it, sand it down and clear it again to bring out a really deep look.
