Here's your answer
(btw sportlines are the lowest coils you can have for ls model instead you chose coilovers

I rock sportlines. No issues and stock shocks and struts. Car has 91k. Springs have 45k. Ride is okay on my winter tires(stock 16's). Terrible on my 18's though.
Wish I had just saved for coilovers.

from what ive read you cant do coilovers on a base model balt? something about axle bind or something, someone somewhere said you had to raise the motor to get them to work properly? i could be wrong but i remember reading something about that on here a few days ago
Got sportlines on my LS, no problems whatsoever. Had them on stock strucks/shocks but then got a deal on 4 konis for 250 so been on those for about 2 years and still no issues, with winter stocks and with summer aftermarket 17s ride very nice
Stop and think about what youre saying. its not the springs so much as the fact that when you switch you your big rims, you have no sidewall to absorb the impact. hope you dont think coilovers are gonna ride better.
I'm literally talking out of my ass right now, but could you have coilovers on but avoid axle bind by not slamming it as low as possible but keep it at a reasonable drop? I have no idea if that makes any difference at all, just a thought
