Custom Gauge Pod
Well I have always wanted an A-pillar gauge pod. So this week I decided to get the supplies together and get it started. I started off with a universal gauge pod from autozone...It did not fit what so ever and I had to cut quite a bit off to get it to even fit right. As you can see in the pics...these were just to get a test fit and to see how I wanted mount the pod onto the pillar.
After hacking the pod up and finally getting it to where it would fit right on the a pillar. I took some plastic glue weld and glued it to the a pillar. Then I took fiberglass bondo and went to town on it. Just used it to pretty much cover in the holes and to get it attached to the pod.
Then I sanded the hell out of it till it was somewhat smooth and no longer had all the bumps in it. I then took regular bondo and used it to make the edges a lot smoother and to cover in the imperfections that fiberglass bondo makes. After sanding and rebonding it a few times, I took some primer and threw a few coats on. The primer helps with seeing where imperfections are in the bondo and aid in sanding. So this is where I am at as of now.
It still needs a little bit of work to get done..after I get done I will be spraying it with a wrinkle black paint to make it look some what like the other a pillar. Comments welcome!!
