pics or ban....

anything can be taken too far. painting it may or may not be rice. just depends on your style.. anyways, who cares about what other people think, if you like it go with it.

people say not to run dual exhaust, i put it on. i think i did it in a subtle way and it looks/sounds great. i didn't put on huge coffee/fart cans and i've only received compliments.

try to post pics of other dash's thats been painted or a mock up of what you wanna do. more people respond if they SEE a reference

I think as long as you stick to body color of the car or any solid color it looks good and is not rice. I think it becomes rice when you start adding racing stripes, badges, cheap overlays, etc to it

I think a large majority of the ss.net population has painted that area and IMO its a very nice added touch. It makes the interior look way better

More example of rice are as follows

I shot mine with autobody paint and clear. Same black color as the car and then got the black interior... I think it looks sharp.

I painted my trim and I like it. 08's dont come with a 2 tone yellow interior so i said **** it, ill put some yellow in. I think it came out great. just gotta get a black headunit and black HVAC controls and paint steering wheel bezels.

Im sure some will call it rice and I dont really give a ****. Some people call my floor mats rice. Some people call cobalts rice. i call peoples **** rice. I call my friends cobalts rice. whatever. u do what you like and just tuffen up so u dont cry if some1 doesnt like it.

I think the body match trim looks awsome especially when you look out your window at your side view mirrors and their the same color as your trim. It just looks real nice. Only problem is doing something with HVAC and radio. your gonna have to 2 tone it somehow because of them

Its not bad to do it, but it is bad to overdo it. Most of the painting of the trim pieces usually work to improve the look of it over the cheaply painted stock trim (The silver) or the faux CF on the G5's.

You have to do it the right way, and have it look integrated. Personally, if not rice, i've always thought the radio/hvac controls on this car make it look tacky as hell. if you could get a nice, black radio and hvac control panel, and paint the middle part w/ seat heaters and airbag off to match, maybe. unfortunately, its either silver, which looks like crap, or graphite, which doesn't look all that good either with a painted setup, since it doesn't match the black of the rest of the interior. then theres the matching of the steering wheel controls and door handle cups.

then again, i only made it as far as filling in the pattern on the shift knob w/ arrival blue on mine. i do like the way that looks, and goes with the blue seats ok.

I've noticed, over the years, the only people that like painting their interior are people with plastic interiors. I don't mean to bash on cobalts or their owners but you don't see people with g35's, lexus's, mercedes or even the current line of Acura owners painting their interior. It could also be that younger owners are the cause of this.
