Depends on the color... Something subtle - no; Black - no....

Bright color that says "look at me" - yes (yellow, victory red, etc...)....

To each their own though... If you choose to do this, I recommend going with a paint for plastics (better adherance) or use a primer underneath...

Any paint is fine as long as you put enough clearcoat. Duplicolor krylon etc etc

It's a subjective thing. Its acceptable to change certain things (Such as the silver trim on the Cobalts or some small trim pieces), but not to overdo it.

You'll get called rice if there is a) too much stuff painted or b) its in a horrible color.

As long as you keep it conservative, you'll be fine (IE: Don't paint 90% of your interior puke green).

to each is his own. idk why you guys care whether other people think your car is rice or not. just because you like it, doesnt mean that everyone else has to. personally i agree that painted trims look nice as long as they arent overdone with strips etc. right now mine is black because im going through that grey to black conversion. hopefully i'll have a full black interior by the end of summer.

I've never seen any summit white guys do white trim. I can't really picture how it might look. Anyone have pics or know of anyone that has?

to take the dash trim off do you just pop it off like with a screwdriver or something? and do the trim around the radio last?

it would look bad. the only colors you can pull off are black and silver because of the ac controls. any other colors are going to look gay. that why its rice. the only way i you might be able to pull off another color is if you left the area between the radio and ac controls silver. that might look ok, but probably not. cobalt owners love spray paint way too much

Red dash trim may be rice to you bro. But it does look good to color match.

It's basically personal preferance. Cody thinks it's rice and I don't.

I really wouldn't call anyones taste of modding rice here in css. It's style. We all can give an opinion on how bad things look but that's it

the problem is the ac controls that are color matched to the factory bezels. they stick out like a sore thumb, and it just looks crappy. the only time i its ok to paint your interior is if the paint is flaked off. otherwise leave it alone. i painted the radio surround in my mazda because i replaced half of it and it didnt match. i painted it stock colors.

lucky for me my balt's interior has the gray inserts so the silver trim looks nice with it.

You can still go over top of the ac controls as long as the paint is sheer enough.... I did my interior with mirage ice (only used the "ice coat") and I went right over top of everything (ss, ac controls, etc...). The paint is sheer enough that you can see through it and it provides a great look/effect (subtle and customized). I do caution about the amount of clear coat you put on. The fitment on the driver side trim pieces (to the left of the steering wheel) is tight (at least on my car). I built my surface up so much that the gap between the corner of the trim piece and the lower black trim piece is now visible....

PS... If you do choose a "sheer" option, do not sand your pieces prior to painting!!!

I love mine...I get compliments all the time
I didn't clear enough but I'm still planning on doing the steering wheel pieces and the trim around the window switches so I'll do it then. Maybe the ring around the shifter too.

RICE wtf........its in the interior......painting ur dash trim has nothing to do with attempting to make your car look fast, its not like putting on a ridiculous wing or stick on vents from autozone or pepboys, or the turbo whistle in your exhaust

painting the interior cannot be considered rice on any level.........it can only be considered well done or tacky

I personally like it when it’s done nice, and clean. You can definitely over do it though.
