dash trim=rice
Depends on the color... Something subtle - no; Black - no....
Bright color that says "look at me" - yes (yellow, victory red, etc...)....
To each their own though... If you choose to do this, I recommend going with a paint for plastics (better adherance) or use a primer underneath...

It's a subjective thing. Its acceptable to change certain things (Such as the silver trim on the Cobalts or some small trim pieces), but not to overdo it.
You'll get called rice if there is a) too much stuff painted or b) its in a horrible color.
As long as you keep it conservative, you'll be fine (IE: Don't paint 90% of your interior puke green).

to each is his own. idk why you guys care whether other people think your car is rice or not. just because you like it, doesnt mean that everyone else has to. personally i agree that painted trims look nice as long as they arent overdone with strips etc. right now mine is black because im going through that grey to black conversion. hopefully i'll have a full black interior by the end of summer.
Red dash trim may be rice to you bro. But it does look good to color match.
It's basically personal preferance. Cody thinks it's rice and I don't.
I really wouldn't call anyones taste of modding rice here in css. It's style. We all can give an opinion on how bad things look but that's it

lucky for me my balt's interior has the gray inserts so the silver trim looks nice with it.
You can still go over top of the ac controls as long as the paint is sheer enough.... I did my interior with mirage ice (only used the "ice coat") and I went right over top of everything (ss, ac controls, etc...). The paint is sheer enough that you can see through it and it provides a great look/effect (subtle and customized). I do caution about the amount of clear coat you put on. The fitment on the driver side trim pieces (to the left of the steering wheel) is tight (at least on my car). I built my surface up so much that the gap between the corner of the trim piece and the lower black trim piece is now visible....
PS... If you do choose a "sheer" option, do not sand your pieces prior to painting!!!

I love mine...I get compliments all the time
I didn't clear enough but I'm still planning on doing the steering wheel pieces and the trim around the window switches so I'll do it then. Maybe the ring around the shifter too.

RICE wtf........its in the interior......painting ur dash trim has nothing to do with attempting to make your car look fast, its not like putting on a ridiculous wing or stick on vents from autozone or pepboys, or the turbo whistle in your exhaust
painting the interior cannot be considered rice on any level.........it can only be considered well done or tacky
